Cool..... injectors should be easy... unplug old, plug in new. Pulley isnt as hard as people make it sound. Should be fun.

By the way, ping pong posting is fun

Save your money on the header...you won't need one.

As for the heat, the 19% runs as cool as a 15% with the larger injectors (and GIAC - sorry ).

I do too.... more for the fact of saying "ya I have a header too" that the actual performance gains, but I am sure there are some to be had. Im looking to get as much power out of my baby as I can, short of twincharging.

I must say, being able to custom tune the chip to your specific car and its mods will always be better than a universal chip. I will program the unichip now, and then again once I have the intake manifold, head, and cams. Then operation more power is done

Not always. That's assuming the Unichip is as good or better than the GIAC. Sure getting a custom GIAC has to be better than a universal GIAC or a custom Unichip better than a universal Unichip. But comparing one to the other isn't a guarantee. That's why I still think the GIAC is better... And no they don't pay me but maybe they should! I just get very passionate about stuff like this. I've been reading and posting on this board every day for 2 1/2+ years. And when I keep reading EVERY WEEK of someone with a 15% wanting more torque and looking in the wrong places or someone trying different ECUs or asking for advice on ECUs and I know I'm experiencing EXACTLY what they want to experience, I can't help but to shout it out!

Have you had a custom tuned unichip? Fact is, I already have the unichip, its tunable, so why change? There is no guarantee that the GIAC can give me more power, so i'll pass... thanks for the sales pitch(es) though

do the Alta 15% pullies need a puller to remove them?
No puller necessary with the Altas or any other interference-fit pullies. Undo the bolts, pull off the pulley and slide off the collar. Install new collar and pulley per directions.

While I sometimes fault greatgro for his lack of enthusiam, I have to agree with him on the question of lower RPMs. I have Eric's 19% reduction pulley and I really don't pull as many as before. I still bounce off the rev limiter at times, but generally I find myself crusing at 3k when before 4k was normal. I am somewhat surprised at this actually. Long periods in the mountains at 5k were common before.

I think I will do the injectors/GIAC upgrade when the injector wars settle down. But I will be doing it because greatgro says, and I quote, "it is sooooo smooooth." I am still running the original ECU version [likely to be 36]. After a year and a quarter, the dealer has never seen my car, so I don't actually know the rev number. But the yo-yo seems more noticable, maybe because with the 19% I am in the dreaded yo-yo RPM range.

If Ryan is correct about the source of the yo-yo [Phixes 1 and 2], then why would GIAC make it smooth? Did you have yo-yo before you got religion greatgro?

Huh

Ive pretty much made up my mind that this is the way to go in order to get that low down torque to get me off the line.... a nice increase in boost is a good bonus too This is probably a next month mod since I want to have my TB + AGS in before I do the chip tune. Cant wait to see the dyno results

ChiliBit - I did not have the yo-yo for the first 25 months with my original software. But in early December, I was upgraded (against my will) to the latest version - 39.2 maybe? It took a little time, but I soon realized they must have done something. At first I didn't know what was going on in the 3k RPM range but as I put 2 and 2 together, I figured it out. So yes right before the GIAC I HAD the yo-yo. GIAC erased it.

As far as Ryephile's fixes go, I never understood the logic behind the first one. I've been meaning to ask about this for quite some time. The bypass valve is there for two reasons: To give better gas mileage and extend the life of the supercharger. If the bypass valve is always closed, not only are you wasting gas (by always compressing air with the supercharger) but you're also using/stressing the supercharger constantly. Even if it does fix the yo-yo, isn't anyone worried about premature supercharger wear?
