In my mini, I have the factory oil temp gauge just like the MC40 did. I don't remember whether the drain bolt was magnetic or not as I am looking to get a magnetic oil drain bolt from WMW. Don't want to drain the oil and find out it's not and then wait to get the new drain bolt.

 

Factory is NOT magnetic.

On the MC40 the drain plug was actually the oil temp sensor. So you can't swap out to another drain plug unless you don't care if the oil temp gauge works.
