Stock EXAUST Questions

Hello

I have MINI r53 with stock exhaust. I am 50 years old and i dont need boy racer exhaust sound but dont like OEM tips on r53. I bought JCW ones, i know that they are not "PLUG AND PLAY". We have here really good exhaust service, so the y can make what ever i want. As i understand, when you are back of the car, right part of OEM exaust is resonator ? Is it posible, to make "CUSTOM" style of na OEM exhaust ? Simply, to open resonator part, delete everything from it, make another pipe like JCW, MILLTEk etc and put pipes right diameter for JCW tips. I know thats a lot of work, simply you can make a one ball mode ( i dont like look of one ball mode).

Second question: I call my MINI dealer today, and JCW exhaust cost around 900e here in Serbia. 550e for back part, and 350e for resonator. So, my question is: Can i put resonator from r56 just because i have one sitting in my garage, or can i make custom one ? Also, i am toying with idea to buy universal rear mufflers, two of them, and welded with pipes and make a custom exaust with resonator. Just don't know how loud it will be.

Sorry for long post, and my bad English

Greets from Serbia

The tips you really want are NLA (No Longer Available). Mini #82120410150 are a pair of JCW "Sport Tips" sized to fit a standard R53. Here is a link with pictures: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3895500 They were plug-n-play. Maybe still available from someone in Serbia?

If you choose to combine the JCW rear section for R53 with R56 resonator, it can be fabricated, but could be slightly louder than the R53 resonator version. I say this because the R56 is turbocharged, and the turbocharger quiets the exhaust somewhat all by itself (so less muffler required) compared to the R53 supercharged motor.

An alternative: If you simply want a different appearance with the exhaust sound you have, ask that "really good exhaust service" if they can modify some tips they have available in their catalog to fit your Mini.

Your English is better than my Serbian.

Thanks for your reply. I decide to buy rear JCW section without resonator.
