Stock exhaust with aftermarket muffler?

I was wondering if only adding a new muffler would change the sound of my r56?

Not looking for any performance boost at all. Just a little throatier sounding or something along those lines.

Thanks

I just had a muffler shop cut out the resonator and 2nd cat off my 2012 MCS and left the stock muffler. Sounds awesome. Still relatively quiet but throatier with more prominent pops and bangs in sport mode. No droning at all. Cost $100 for them to cut and weld in a piece of straight pipe. Took them about 20 minutes. Best mod yet.

The factory JCW muffler on my old S did exactly that for me - no performance gain but a deeper and raspier tone, just perfect. I also hear removing the 2nd cat and res can get a similar tone as above
