I hope everyone is well during this weird period. I made this thread as I would like to share with you some ideas and behind the scenes of developing a product-prototype.
Maybe some of you read my old post https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...53-mini-9.html
where I shared many steps along the development of a charge pipe kit for the R53 MINI. It took a while .... and finally I did two version with the latest is my favorite
OK enough with the past. Charge pipe project is done and I want something fresh. I still have my MINI and I want to play around with it a bit more.
This time I would like to develop an intercooler...but... I have same very specific rules...
It has to be completely different than anything else out there. (I have some ideas but I will not unveil now...)
Plug and Play fitment like my charge pipe.
Utilizing 3D Scanning
CAD
3D Printing
CNC
Composites...
It is a fun project, thus time does not matter.
As time does not matter budget also is not a huge problem...
It is intend to be a product first for me and my MINI, thus no pressure to follow numbers and trends...
Update as much as I can the forum so you can see the magic of developing a product (and why sometimes it takes so much time, effort and money )
OK so as you know (by checking my previous thread) the following pages are going to be full of CAD models, 3D Scans and many many versions...
As always the plan is a fully 3D Scanned assembly of the section of the vehicle that I will use and complete reverse engineer all the scan files and components. Then start design the new components.
I had in my library a 3d scan of the front crash bar. Not the best quality as it was just a reference scan I needed for another job.
And then I reverse engineered it to a CAD model.
And.... that's it for now ! It is just a little teaser of what is coming.
I hope you guys enjoy it.!
Stay safe ,
George.
