Ive just created this profile as in a year or so i will do a massive engine work on my r53 cooper s.... I have quite a lot lot of questions so please dont judge me
First of all i will list what i have in mind and after all the questions i would like answers for...
Forged pistons 0.5 overbore, diamondyze and ceramic top coat
Forged con rods
Complete engine ARP bolts
Bored and honed block
sleve liners
Race head with ceramic CC coat (see below)
Camshaft (see below)
Lightened and polished crankshaft (see below)
5KG flywheel
Now i feel like i should mention that the car will be used as a weekend pocket rocket and occasional track day, and keep the price part out of the theme for now since im just gathering information for now....
+ First of all i have a question about the cylinder head... what sort of head should i be looking at (brands) as im not sure which are most reliable and equally powerful, i would rather loose a couple HP that make my engine blow... so any advice on head choice?
+ Second i dont really know which cams should i use with such a setup since i would still want it drivable in the traffic so not full on aggressive maybe medium? and what sort of lift should i be looking at?
+ Third I will do the work on the crank for sure but im not sure if my 80k km crank is in a good condition enough to do the work on since i said i would love it if the car would be reliable... i have an option on buying a new one or get one professionally made by my buddy who is an exellent crank fabricator... With that sorted i will be asking on how much would it be okay to lighten it and what is the "safe" limit? i might do the crank in the following years since its more of a pricey bit to do so no rush there.
Now i know this is quite a hefty sheet of parts and questions and i would greatly appreciate it if you could help with just some of them if not all. i just like my parts top notch since ive had more than too manny failed engines....
