In what way does it improve the car? Performance or noise (or both.) Was it easy to fit?

YES....BOTH.....the sound is so sweet and the power it generates is unreal. The cost is also atractive. The Rouge system just looks ugly to me. The BMP has a nicer look to it. It is so easy to install. 10 minutes and you off enjoying it. BMP Intake

It may look nicer to your eye, but the Rogue is putting down more power. I recently ran a baseline dyno of my car and then a run with the BMP intake and one with the Rogue. The BMP gave 2-3hp at the wheels and the Rogue gave 8-9.

Now I can speak objectively here as well, considering that I first purchased the BMP intake. Only after the dyno testing was my heart won over by the Rogue. George from MINI-Madness was kind enough to "swap" me the BMP for the Rogue, so that I had the best intake (we were doing dyno runs on my stock car with various exhausts and intakes, so this was kind of a thank you). That's classy!

The Rogue gives a little more "whine" at WOT. I can tell the car is snappier with the Rogue over the BMP, but my butt dyno isn't as calibrated as the Dynoshop dyno, so I'll trust in the charts I have.

I'm not saying the BMP isn't good, but I do question it's construction. I mean, it's made of aluminum while the Rogue is stainless steel. Big difference. And I'm not so sure sucking in all that hot air is a good thing for a supercharger.

Has anyone asked BMP about why your dyno results came out so different from their claims? I have a BMP but have not installed it yet(I don't even have my car until this afternoon). If they can't give any reason why your dyno runs came out so low I may send it back and get the Rouge.

Honestly, since you haven't installed it yet, just send it back. I'm happier with the Rogue. The Rogue is constructed better, too.

If you order from Mini-Madness you might get a discount for "sending the BMP back". Hey, worth trying.

No disrespect but I find those results a little hard to believe. A buddy of mine has the BMP and another has the Rouge and both dyno'd their cars. The result was that they are both good systems. They both came back within 1 to 2 hp difference. The Rouge came out on top once the the BMP came out on top also. The conditions make all the difference in how a dyno works. Proper air flow, temp. humidity, fans set up, hood open or closed, etc. Look at K&N type systems for different cars. Alot of them are similar to the BMP with the cone exposed to warm engine generated air. They don't seem to have problems with there's. And BMP has been making high quality products for years. I guess it's up to what you want and how much you want to spend. There both good systems but you have to admit the the BMP looks to my eyes much better.

Oh, and as for the results, we have a theory on that. Since the Rogue is exposed with the hood up and the BMP just has the rear area exposed, this could partially account for it. We did our testing with the hood up. So the Rogue could have been getting more airflow, resulting in a more accurate assesment. But the BMP had a smaller filter and sucks hot air....so even if you increased it's airflow, it still couldn't keep up.

I looked at the Rogue, and I agree... the heat shield is a nice idea. I'll blow $259 on that! Pretty good deal, sounds simple to install, too... now I just need to find out when I can order my S....

I ordered my BMP as well as a Gauge kit for my MCS from BMPDESIGNS through the internet, and WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT! Living in Mexico our only resource is through the WEB, I gave them all the information requiered and did not get an answer, I called them 3 times and all I could get was a sales person asking form my information so somebody else could call me back?
If BMPDESIGNS cant handle a 600 plus order, can we trust their dyno numbers? can we trust their quality? I dont think so!!!!
Sorry to be so negative but I am very disapointed in BMPDESIGNS I will cancel my order and keep on searching for better equipment as well as companies.
Any sugestions?.........Salud from Mexico!

Just received my BMP Air Intake.

I put about 100 miles on my MINI yesterday after the installation of the BMP Air Intake. My MINI felt quicker and sounded better. There is a noticeable improvement over stock.

There has been a lot of discussion here and on MINI2 about the Rouge and BMP. I think both are an improvement over stock intake. I am not sure which one I would choose after every thing that has been posted, if I were to order again. When driving yesterday the outside temps went down in the 40s, so there was plenty of cold air. I bought the BMP on recommendation from another MINI owner who already had his on and liked it. He was also getting a strut brace and said it would fit with the BMP.

Also stopped by my MINI dealer yesterday to pick up my MINI snow globe. They said that the JCW kit for the S should be available by June 03 and they would have an air intake. Does anyone have any information on it?

MINI Snow Globe? What MINI Snow Globe?

Are they available only in the US, do you think? Again, pity us poor Canucks. The weather SUCKS and the only thing I've gotten from MINI is a key ring (which was given to me by the dealer at delivery).

Snow Globe?

I would be leary of the 2hp clain that some say. I've talked to a few people that have done comparisons like this and they have theories as to why they were inaccurate. I'm betting that they dyno'ed the car stock, then with the bmp, then with the rogue...atleast that is how others i've talked to did it and had results that were just like this. The car needs a bit to adjust to the new amounts of airflow, this isn't accomplished in a matter of a few minutes. So by dyno'ing the bmp you are allowing the ecu to change the air/fuel mappings slighty but not enough time, and then when installing the rogue they have already changed slightly and continuing to change so of course the rogue would show more. I would love to see these tests run the other way with the rogue first then the bmp. Not trying to say the rogue isn't good, i have one on my S, but I am leary of these tests. Additionally i've seen reports written by Jim Comforti that basically say any dyno tests of a car with OBDII aren't going ot be accurate due to several factors - check this out at - http://www.sgmotorsports.com/mz3/obdii.htm#ODBII

Lambda = 1.0 / AFR 14.7:1..

I thought Lambda was a dance...
Interesting info. Would disconnecting the battery
act as a reset? Apparently not but the question is
out there.

Okay, so we're odd. We have a Monster Mini intake on our MCS (feels, looks, sounds better than OE). Anyone dyno tested a Monster Mini intake on an MCS?

Anyone?
