Investigating LSD upgrades...
I'm currently doing my research for LSD due to a recent clutch development... But, I'm not sure which option I want to go with.
ECS currently has a few options:

And, Way Motorworks has a Quaife option:
https://www.waymotorworks.com/quaife...ferential.html
I am not looking for a clutch type, as I have no plans for track duty. I would install an LSD strictly for daily driver duty, and better traction. I am a fan of mechanical LSD for its simplicity.
Does anyone have experience with the MFactory or Black Flag units? The Quaife or Wavetrac units would probably be at the top of my budget for an LSD. In no way do I want to splurge for the OSG unit.

I would recommend the Quaife as I've been running one since 2005 in my race car and still as good as new. They have a lifetime warranty and can't be beat.
We do offer the cheaper black flag diff, but with the amount of labor cost involved in doing the job I would rather go with the Quaife based on experience and known track record.

Also make sure you do the maint items when you pull the trans like powerflex control arm bushings, redline trans oil, clutch and so on.

Not from my own experience but form what i have heard..
Wavetrac might be better than Quaife and as a 3rd option there is OS Giken.
If i had to say whats the choice of differential in mini community
1st. Wavetrac
2nd. Quaife
3rd. Os Giken
Also its a matter of preference and what exactly you want from the car and drive style!

I agree with WayMotorWorks, as I'm also getting a Quaife LSD fitted on my R56 as it'll be a daily driver and no track use.
I thought about Wavetrac but for price and the type of use I purchased the Quaife as it also offered lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the comments.
I think if I’m going to jump into the $900-1000 range, I’ll go with the Quaife. Didn’t know about the lifetime warranty. That would be worth the extra cost over the MFactory of the Black Flag units.

I am running a wavetrac. It has been very good. I went with this lsd because I was told the quafe will spin the inside wheel in hard acceleration out of a corner. Don’t have firsthand knowledge though.
I purchased mine from eBay when they did the discount code promotion and got it for under £600, but needed to buy the two bearing @ ~£44 as some kits doestn't come with the 2 bearings needed.

I have heard and read good things about Wavetrac being able to take corners better than Quaife but too pricey for me to justify nearly double the price here in the UK.
Now the big thing people say is bad about the Quaife is if you lift the tire off the ground the diff is open, Everyone seems very worried about this for some reason, and my opinion is if you have a wheel off the ground you need to be concerned about the landing rather than if the diff is trying to turn it or not cause even if it turns it's not on the ground so it won't matter.
The Wavetrac adds a cam internal to the diff to make it lock when the tire comes off the ground, but the downside to this is it creates a friction and wear point in the diff. This will make it change over time and act different between hot and cold laps kinda like a clutch type diff will. That is why I still prefer the Quaife as it doesn't have that friction point and why they offer the lifetime warranty on it and been racing them for years in the MINI challenge in the UK. Again goes back to the fact that I want the diff to last forever as the job is so big I don't want to do it again, esp if I have to do it under warranty.
Actually that's false. It would only spin the wheel if the tire doesn't have enough grip, but that would also prove the LSD is working as it's trying to turn that tire.

Considering a Quaife as well given its warranty coverage.
You will lift a rear tire off the ground all the time in the MINI with a stiffer rear sway bar.
i lift my inside front on the track, but I am VERY aggressive on the curbing, I will jump my car if it's a faster way around the track.
WMW do you have any specs on the black flag diff? What is the ratio on it? do these work like a 1 way mechanical lsd, i.e., unlock on braking?
