Evo 8 Transmission for AWD

There's been talk of AWD through the times and i recently got a hold of a totaled out Evo 8. I have all working components of the transmission, transfer case ect. including the entire rear sub assembly. What would the feasibility of having a custom transmission adapter plate, crankshaft spacer, drive shafts, CV axles, the whole deal, and making this work. I'm aware of the work that goes into, such as custom exhaust and re-locating the fuel tank ect. but in terms information on how the splines line up or if the transfer case will clear the crank case. I understand its gunna be expensive and a mechanical nightmare, but thats what make a good project car. This is what i want to do and i dont need the, just by and awd car comment either. Anything helps, help me make this happen!! Oh and i already have all the parts, its just a matter of getting everything fit up!!

I think the bigger problem is having the transmission mate to the motor..... I do not think that the Evo's motor will fit under the bonnet along with what ever it will take to make the front wheels continue to be drive wheels. The rear half would not be, on a relative scale of things, all that difficult to do. The front half is where you are going to run into an issue of space - there just isn't going to be enough of it. If you slice the car in half (front to back) and add in another, oh say, 6 inches, then maybe?

Full disclosure - I am not a mechanic in any way, not even really of the shade tree variety, but like to pretend that I am one here on the internet.

Good luck.

I would think you may be looking at:
Front chassis work depending on the actual depth and placement of the transmission and adaptor.
Rear chassis work for that drivetrain.
Custom axles. (No big deal, just possibly expensive)
Widened exhaust tunnel, depending on the size and placement location of the driveshaft.

Anything is doable with the right amount of money and/or time, strip it down to a shell and frame, put your big boy fab hat on, and go for it, if that's what you want to do.

Personally I'd start with a non runner though.
