So I did a little datalogging today. Car is a 2017 JCW only mod is Dinan Elite. I didn't do any data logging previously. This was the result of both hammering it through second gear in addition to a 6th gear build up starting at a low speed. Of course it's calculated and who knows how accurate any of this is. Peak boost of 17.261psi. So far the car runs completely like a stock car but much stronger. With that said, I'm already wanting for more power. The never ending struggle.
you should also keep an eye on your IAT. that will impact your peak boost.

Good point. Car with Dinan Sport and 8 speed auto tranny is definitely happier with lower ambient temps. Though this does mean slightly greater air density, which could mean leaner running, I think the car must sense the lower intake air temp and do something to adjust ... something. It has a bit more punch on 91 gas than it did in the 100 degree summer months. And the lag between lower gears appears to be gone lately. Must be the Magic of Christmas
Or maybe my car is trying to save me some money by keeping me satisfied with the inexpensive plug in box, for the moment.
I sold mine for $200 on here and brings the group buy Byte Tronik tune that much more affordable
Truly a Zen trifecta. You're all happy smokin' your tires with the latest ECU tune, you reduced your cost by doing a group buy and selling your Dinan Sport, and somebody else is happy with the added boost from your old plug in. Spreading good karma, MiniVinnie. Nice!
Or have you sold your Dinan Sport cheaply just to groom another speed junkie with a cheap gateway drug????? I'm sure he's happy with his Dinan Sport... for the moment Trust me, I know about how this works.
Hi, not sure if this is the right tread to ask. Wondering if those who've had the Dinan Elite are happy with it? I've been looking over various treads and noticed that there are folks who've had issues with the Elite. Wondering if those are rare cases or most people are having issues with it?
Rare cases IMO and some have the insatiable need for more power so they lusted and went for a tune. The Elite provides more than enough juice to get you into trouble quickly.

Thanks! Have itchy fingers at the moment. And am considering getting the Elite. Like to know that it would be just a quick plug and go (I know it's a little more than that), and I won't have to worry about running into technical/mechanical problems with the Elite.
Pretty easy to install. I didn't time it but certainly less than an hour if you don't know your way around the engine bay. Otherwise probably a 15 minute job for a MINI mechanic who has done these before.

Thanks again for the response!
Now, I just need to get the green light from the financial controller at home
Too bad that I seem to have missed out on some of the deals back in Dec.

lol!
Sorry, another question. Our Minis have 3 modes: sports, mid and eco. Does the Elite affect the modes? So for example, normal driving under mid would have more power? Thanks!
You should see performance improvements in the modes, although I honestly haven't tried Green since putting the Elite in. I'd only use Green if stuck in a traffic jam.
I only use green when...... hmmm....... Never!
I coded mine to start up in Sport mode and that's where it stays. I keep my 2500HD Suburban in green mode to compensate for my increased carbon bootprint.

Then you never got stuck in a long traffic jam where you can sit for 15 minutes and not move.
We don't have those around here. If I get caught at a train crossing for one of the loooong coal trains going to the power plant I just put it in neutral and set the handbrake. I had enough of the multi-lane "parking lots" when I lived in LA and Tokyo.
lol!

So the concept behind these boxes is tweaking the data that the engine management system "sees." The Dinan will 'trick' the engine management system into calling for more boost in all modes. The Elite monitors more inputs than the Dinan Sport and supports more optimization of fueling in all modes.
With the Dinan boxes, you will get better-than-stock performance that is quite noticeable in the default normal mode, and of course, it's even more pronounced in Sport.
Green mode, for those who use it, is, as Moocher describes, specifically designed to save fuel.

I can't recall the last time I used green mode.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Very tempting!
For those interested I have a Dinan Elite for sale in the marketplace. I was happy with it and no check engine lights. I decided to go with a full ECU tine after I hit 50,000 miles.
Car made it to Port of Baltimore expect delivery sometime in April! Dealer is a Dinan instaler. Can get the Elite installed before I pick her up.
Thoughts on should I get the Elite from day one or drive her stock for a while? If the bypass plug still comes with the Elite I could run with that for a while as I do all the none agresive driving in the first 500 miles.
