Drivetrain Dinan Comparison: I Thought I was Happy

I keep telling myself exactly this, but then...
So I am with you on too old to party. And the Sport at +3psi is definitely quicker off the line than stock, but then... there is that little stumble/hesitation just below 2,000 RPM, sort of an exaggeration, very slight exaggeration, of turbo lag that happens just a quick tick before the car really starts to pull. If the Elite fixes that, well maybe it's worth... too old to party, too old to party, must... be....satisfied with what I have...

After having the Dinan Elite tune installed, that hesitation I experienced was gone. Completely, nada, zip. Tested it multiple times and it is eliminated. I noticed it the instant I pulled out of my dealership's lot.
I am a big Dinan fan, My car is extremely fast (I'm talking C7 Corvette fast, and yes I had one so I know). Getting the piggyback warranty to cover any issues is worth the extra $ IMO)

I will forego the JCW tune and instead do a Dinan Elite. I'll have the piggyback warranty that Dinan provides and likely have better overall performance for about 1/3 the price.
At least that's the plan as of today......

Well damn it ......... i didnt want to even consider an elite but this thread isnt helping.
Im at work so I cant research, anyone know what the (guestimate) HP of what my S would be. JCW tune plus Dinan on race setting? If its close to 247hp as the elite reports I might just keep it.
Also, please factor in my white viny stripe from bumper to bumper. That adds about 4-5hp

All kidding aside Vinnie, Azwildcat68 said this on another thread:
"jcw tuning kit and Dinan Elite
I added the JCW Tuning kit to my 17 MCS about 6 months ago but wanted a little more. I got a Dinan Sport which was very good but after a few weeks began to have some CEL problems. I ordered the Elite partially because of the warranty but also wanted a little more power. The Elite with the JCW kit is amazing. It is very smooth and is fantastic once you hit about 12 to 13 rpm. On the highway you have to be careful as it goes from 70 to100 in a heart beat. I can't recommend it more."

I hadn't even considered buying it until I was on ECS website looking at other Black Friday specials. Then I saw a post showing a 10% discount and I pulled the trigger before common sense had a chance to kick in. From my research it should make more power than my current NM, but we'll see. I figure there's more potential for power if the box is monitoring and adjusting fuel and timing as well as spoofing the boost readings like the NM and Dinan Sport. As far as bang for the buck goes,I still don't think it will beat either of the single plug boxes.
Go ahead Vinnie... you know you want to.
The Elite can be had from two of our vendors/sponsors if you're interested.

I'm still holding out. But then, I never tried heroin.... because I know where that would lead.

I could just shoot up some smack and when my wife sees the tracks, I'll just come clean... and she'll say, "You lying bas#@rd! You've been under the bonnet and the only thing you've been tweaking is the boost on the MINI. And you said you could quit any time."

I don't remember much from the 1960's or early 1970's, thus proving I was really there as an active participant

Dinan Elite vs. Sport
A few more thoughts on the price/performance of the Dinan Elite vs. Sport: I swapped out my 3 month old Sport for the Elite ('16 F55) and IMHO, it is a vastly superior product. To compare, I've had ample seat time driving over the same great roads (NC mountains) and can tell you the Elite flat out pulls harder and longer especially through the middle third of the speedometer. Where the Sport provides "in-your-face" immediate acceleration, power seems to level off as speed increases; where the massive torque gains of the Elite really shine. Also the Sport unit is a bit rougher, a tad harsher, not nearly as refined; mine was also plagued with the dreaded intermittent CEL. For stoplight-to-stoplight only fun, the Sport is fabulous and maybe a better $$ value. But, since the Elite is designed to manage a whole lot more than just boost, it's a more comprehensive, powerful and warrantied system. Better? Absolutely, but alas, at triple the price. I agree with the comments of the previous posts as they are all excellent and spot-on; each unit has it's own benefits and price points based on how/where you drive. For even more fun, I have also installed a Dinan exhaust system. Not too loud but just enough! Sensory overload has never felt better!
