I was just about to make a similar post... I'll be interested to hear what others say.

I have Alex Peper's OBD software and cable (http://www.obd-2.com/), which I've used on my Volvo for a couple of years now. Anyone know if an OBD cable of this sort will work for the MTH upgrade?

The cable from sensolutions in Canada will work for diag software such as Vag-Com, only that there software does not yet support the MINI

I also have been on the lookout for an OBD tool. A few of the ones I am interested in are:

http://www.auterraweb.com/

and

http://www.autoenginuity.com/index.html

I like these because you can use them on a PDA (I am undecided on a Palm or a hand held PC) and they both have a dyno program for HP, torque, 1/4 mile times etc.

The Vag-Com one looks really cool too. Hopefully they will make on for the MINIs soon.

On a side note, does anyone know what the thing in the OBD cover is for?

please refer to thread:

No it does not work with any other software, I have that tool and cable, I also have the cable from germany for the MTH software it comes in three parts, too much cables to drag around with me so I got the MONO-COM from Canada instead one cable a very simple solution, now waiting on Diag software that will work with this cable.
