If you look back we have had at least three threads on this subject.

I have a Quaife LSD on my 04 MCS, it is great, however my MCS has lots of mods.
It is expensive

yea but if you are already in there and you know the quilfe is going to last longer then that phatom thing then i would de the quilfe diff. cant go worng with it. have many friends with them and they would never go with anything else. the quilfe different is both clutch and helical diff so best of both worlds.

just some thing to think about. if you do all the work to get the tranny out you might as well do lightened flywheel and clutch.

first off... how do you know the quaife will last longer? Only one way to find out.... and if you had been paying attention

I changed the pressure plate, clutch and flywheel when I went into the drivetrain......

He told you: "have many friends with them and they would never go with anything else."

Does quaife offer a mirror polished or chrome plated LSD?

Nuzzo must not know that his Phantom Grip is junk...or other race teams...

El Diablito, your MCS is making me weep with jealousy! Hot bucket!

Just because you have one on your cars does not make it best one for the vehicle, maybe you should ask Peter which is the best of two.

The phantom, while looking simple, has recorded over 100,000 race miles on it by at least two teams, with no signs of wear.

While the Quaife has a loyal following and it is a good item, the Phantom has never been shown to have any problems. Add on to the fact that is is about a third of the price, makes it a really good item.

For any MC or MCS owner looking at any LSD consider first "WHY" you need to add one. Are you doing Autocross, driving on the track, doing driving school or just street driving. Most times if you do track and autocross you can make better use of LSD. For street driving it is a costly upgrade although it does aid in traction to the wheels in front

Consider the high cost of installing an LSD. For the Quaife most shops will charge about $900 to $1500 in labor depending on if they have done it before or not. I have seen some quotes for less but that seems rare. Quaife costs about $1100 for the part with lifetime warranty.

Often owners will have to decide whether to add a racing clutch and lightweight flywheel (RDR, UUC, Mini mania and others) while the install is taking place. This adds little to the labor cost but flywheels are about $500 and clutches several $100s. If adding the flywheel don't keep the stock clutch- go with the aftermarket clutch. The lighter flywheel helps with quicker shifts but adds noise.

There is just another opinion. I have a Quaife and a M7 Flywheel with a stock clutch and pressure plate. This combination not only works great but also makes very little noise.

That's good to hear you have the stock clutch and pressure plate with no problems.
Others have said the stock parts don't fit with the lighter flywheel and there were problems.

I installed the Quaife and kept my stock flywheel and clutch. Feels like stock but traction is improved out of corners and on straightaways. Not quick shifting but very quiet

Did you make the call , or are you just thinking again that you are right because you have one, I suggest that you go back and read the previous threads on this subject.
The Phantom is the cheap way, but not the best.

for being "on the edge" I find your comments lacking.... I have never seen so many people on a board that complain and say parts aren't as good as such and such or it's junk or blah blah blah when they haven't even bothered trying a product..... I have never knocked the quaife except maybe for price.... but why would I pay 3x as much for something and WEIGHS more than the phantom grip with no evidence ..... NONE.... that it performs better.....

furthermore, why does something always have to be more expensive to be better? My first wife was expensive and she sure as heck IS NOT BETTER

Exactly. Anyone trying to argue that the Phantom Grip is better than a helical LSD (Quaife, Torsen, etc) isn't worth arguing with.

LOL, based on your comment above, you are THE MAN!!

Phantom is cool, quaife is cool. It IS your car, do whatcha like.

I love benchracers! With their 17 in runflats, and their only mod is a dangerous near warranty voiding aftermarket cup-holder that they secretly take out of the car for each visit to the dealer.

ROFLMAO....

I can care less how much you spend on your quaife if it rocks your boat... so far I am damn happy with my choice

I can't figure some of these people out.... they don't own any of the parts yet know exactly how they work..... go figure

common sense is NOT a common virtue...

Jason Priestly showed them how on "Rides". MTV's "Pimp My Ride" is also a great point of reference. And, don't forget "TunerVision".

I'm gonna start my own show, "Armchair Tunerz", as soon as I can wrap up sponsorship with APC and the company that can "Supercharge any car for $69."
