Interesting mod to report

I came across this on the net the other day and thought I would have a go. I saw some generic stuff on e-bay before and my friends in Japan are using on their minis but very expensive ones. These are made for Minis and only $30 so I thought if anything it will look cool under the hood. Well, after install I was pleasantly surprised by the result. Throttle response is noticeably better and I have slightly more pull in 3-5k range. (Dyno heads don't grill me) I did not notice this much change when I put my Nologys and those were $150! I know some people are going to tell me it's just in my head but I am happy with this addition. Anybody else had an experience in this kind of ground kit? Lastly just to clarify I am not associated with this company in any way.

I have enquired about these wires before and everybody I have spoken to say that they are snake oil. But none of them have tried them and, after all, didn't scientists say that we could never fly and that the world was flat at one time?

My favorite part of the ad is where, in the MINI description, it says, "Also comes with printed directions for the WRX, not some generic crap." Wouldn't WRX instructions included for a MINI be considered generic?

pfunk,
I'm happy you're happy. It's a grounding kit. Their claim is for easy starts and smoother idle and acceleration. Here are some reviews-

People seemed to be positive.

At $30 you are probably OK. Be it known that if you have any electronic problems on your MINI you would be advised to remove all wires that are non stock so that your dealer can troubleshoot the problem without this grounding kit. If you forget to remove it then they may charge you extra for removing it.

I would not recommend it to others on a routine basis.

Anyone out there taken even basic circuit analysis? This is crap... it looks pretty, but it is crap. Where is this supposed additional charge being developed that needs grounded? I feel bad for the poor suckers who look at this and actually bite.

I can honestly say that I have in fact done this mod. Not on the MINI, but on my WRX, which is where I first heard of this. Sad part is, someone on the WRX forum dynoed his car before the ground mod and after. He did pick up 1 hp or so, but that wasn't really where this mod came in. The car idled much smoother with it. I tried it and in fact, my WRX DOES idle better and a lot smoother with it. Same trick with my Buick Grand National. From the factory, there are grounds all over the damn thing. I bought a kit and consolidated them all to one ground. Results? Smoother idle.

It may sound like witch doctor crap, but on some applications is does actually work.

It's the $30 placebo effect.
Hey, an expensive $300 mod with little effect would be bad.
At $30 if it gives you that much value worth of smoothness on starting, idle or accelerating then maybe it's not such a bad thing.
OK so don't put it on your must do list, unless you have a rough idle.

Well, it is working great for me. Another benefit I noticed today. Engine definitely starts faster.
