Drivetrain Performance Upgrades Evolution
Performance Upgrades Evolution
I have a 2005 R53 with less than 30k miles on it, I have added the 16% pulley as well as the air intake and the ATI damper, what are the next few mods most would suggest for peformance out of the drive train?
how much money are you willing to spend? the pulley is the most cost effective, intake does very minimal. makes a really good sound. a header also frees up the flowing exhaust, helps a lot midrange and up top, I felt a tad loss in low end but I am also catless and basically minimal exhaust backpressure.
you can throw in a cam, and possibly a adjustable cam gear and get a bit more, that cost about $700 together, or around $400 for the cam, that will give some more ponies, then can finish that all with a tune, and you should be around 220whp. you will have a harder time with traction at that point.
then theres a big valve head, which will port both sides allowing more air into the engine, valves are also enlarged, with this and tune youll be around 250-260 whp, definently struggling with traction without a LSD.
and that limits power adders for mechanical, at this point with your pulley, the s/c is also maxed out

depending on what your goals are, I'd probably do a header/exhaust next, then injectors, cam/head, and once you're happy with your mods, get a tune to make them all work together well.
I'd also consider the alta intercooler diverter, an oil catch can, and maybe ignition/wires.

Upgrades
We have a handy performance upgrade guide assembled by our experts with years of experience on all models. There's some good info here on engine, exhaust, suspension, etc. Cat Back and ECU upgrade would likely be next. We can help with both. Please feel free to ask any an all questions!

Drive Hard. Drive Safe. Keep Grinning.
If you don't have a catback that is what I would lean toward. Saving weight, gaining torque and a nice sound our Strat system would be ideal.

Or one of our mild cams will be a nice addition without extra parts needed.

Otherwise put together a goal and a budget and we will work with you to get to it.
