I just wanted to see what types of exhaust people had.

thanks

Tony, love your straight pipe. Been thinking of doing the same. How does it sound?

Thanks! Between the SuperSprint resonator (ss center pipe), and the Borla Turbo muffler, it is quite tame at idle, and moderate throttle. I'd describe it as deep and mellow, with a cool gurgle-like sound when backing-off the gas. When jumping on it, the SC whine is minimized . The exhaust gases have no problem getting out! I might add that the wife has not complained, cops have never taken exception, and fellow motorists (I like to look and see if the sound turns heads) show no signs that it's obnoxious.

I think she weighs like 18 pounds total, not to mention the weight saved by the battery box removal, and lighter SLA battery...

I'm extremeley happy with it!

TonyB, where'd you get the exhaust? I've always thought with all these ones going around to one side (or both) if it was possible to do a straight-thru. I would imagine the gains over a regular exhaust are reasonable. Maybe we could meet up some time and I could hear it? I'm in Los Altos/Palo Alto. But anyway I'd love to know the details of where you got it! My '05 MCS is showing up in about a week and I'm going to try to hold out as long as possible, but I know the mods won't be soon behind.

Well, it's nothing you can buy, at least not that I'm aware of. But it can be made for about 500 bucks, if I recall correctly. The whole evolution can be found in the thread below. I'll give you the mid-point or so where the surgery begins:

If you are really interested, you might want to take 30 or so minutes to read the whole thread. I'll be at the pulley party this Sat, so you might want to take a trip to Emeryville. If not, we can hook-up some other time/place. Not a problem.

That reference is probably to me. I've attached a photo. Here is a link to like page 10 or so of a long thread over on MIN2:

The sound is fantastic. When Randy Webb was out here a few weeks back, he really liked the sound also. I'm very happy with it!

Check my gallery at CooperSpeed.com

It won't allow me to post the pics here.

It's a full custom cat-back exhaust using Magnaflow parts. Great low rumble at idle and pretty loud when you really get on the gas. Not much drone at all at hwy cruising. And that nice burble sound when you let off the gas.

Here's a pic of the RSpeed (which I loved) before I took it off. I had an '02, which it doesn't fit very well. It's a great exhaust, however.

I now have a Borla (which I also love), and I'll post a pic of it tomorrow :D
