Forge Motorsports FMIC

I am running the Forge. (This is the first installed unit in the US that myself or WayMotorWorks knows about) Absolutely love it. No pressure drop, no heat soak, and you can really feel the difference with subsequent pulls. One of the funny issues I'm running into is that it runs so cool I tend to be under the 160 mark for the JB4 Stage 2 to run and have to do a couple of quick pulls to get to temp haha.

Looks very good. Stealthy too. Always been a big fan of Forge products because of their quality and performance.

Haha I actually painted the logo of the local speedshop/my friends shop that did most of the work on it because it was too stealthy! (despite their unease as they normally work on 2JZ motors/cars that have over 1000 whp lol)

Nice! Yes, the black FMIC are very stealthy and can be missed sometimes if you don't take a close look at it. That logo will definitely help it stand out. Did you just use paint or actually have it powder coated?

The black is the Forge heat extracting coating, which as I am the first one I got free. The logo is using a similar heat extracting white paint that they spray their in house intercoolers with!

Great, so it'll definitely stand up well. Do you have more modding plans for it?

Next is a JCW brake upgrade. Then some track days, narrow down any weak spots. I know I'll need rear aero at some point, the rear lifts at speed pretty bad. There isn't a lot left that I haven't done haha! I'm in talks with a couple of companies about camber plates - stock plus the control arm bushings maxes you at -1.4/5 and it needs more.

1) save the money on the BBK, just start with some better pads and tires and then take it from there. kills the fun of upgrading. i just did a track day and my stock calipers did fine on carbotech xp8's...it was my tires giving way...those are getting replaced and then after the next track event i'll see what else i need to do....(edit: just a personal opinion...after my track event i realized that i'm not ready for a BBK just yet)

2) edited: i know that the oil temp has to be @ 160 for the JB4 to kick in....how is the IC affecting that?

I don't understand that. The I/C does not effect oil temps.

Sorry- I added a colder thermostat (using http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...&q=11518623576 to find a suitable BMW replacement. I think it was an X5 that we found. It is a "180" tstat but seems to be running colder.) when I did the intercooler and downpipe. This is keeping coolant and oil temps delightfully lower during cruising and such and overall temps lower. I keep forgetting I just signed up and you guys don't know my car sorry 😳

The BBK is also about cosmetics lol. I have a final goal aesthetically for the car. And trust me - go big/sticky tire and you feel like you run out of brakes very quickly. (I'm on 225 Re71-R)

Pics look great. This is going to prove to be one of the best mods for the F56.

From your website, this intercooler does not fit the JCW, and on forge's website, I did not see a listing for one, any input if there will be an upgraded intercooler for the JCW? Not sure what differences there are between the Cooper S and JCW intercooler. I just know there is a small side radiator on the L/H front in my JCW and not on the Cooper S.

Also curious on this one as well, because if it's a bumper issue, it'll also affect the cars running the JCW front bumper.

Note to all - until more comprehensive tuning options are out avoid lower temperature thermostats. The ECU doesn't know how to handle it, and that lead to really weird cruise temps and issues with the JB4. I swapped back to stock thermostat and all is well again. This is a really weird issue, as I have run a colder tstat in basically every car I have ever owned, from a 2015 SRT challenger to a Miata and never run into an issue.

even with tuning options, i dont' think a lower temp thermostat will have any advantage.
very off topic, but what are your STFT and LTFT with the donwpipe and the intake?

Sorry but an intercooler has ZERO to do with coolant and oil temps. Keeps your intake air temps down yes...but no effect on coolant temps, that's what the radiator behind it does lol

Same design as MINI Challenge UK?

Anyone know if this is the exact same Forge IC that they run in the MINI Challenge UK F56 cars? I'm curious if they did any mods before releasing to the public.

line 120 shows boost hitting 20.1 but that's not bad. terry let me increase my boost safety to 20. you have it at 18 fyi.

also, i don't see STFT and LTFT. i used obdlink app but that requires the obdlink lx...i'm sure torque will show that data...any CEL's yet?

Can you tell me what your JB4 is set at?
any rough running?
Do you know what your intake temps are under heavy throttle?
any info's appreciated, also if anyone has any links to ethanol in F56's

I run a combo to get a minimum of 100 octane. This will vary with your local blends. I recommend a tester and an octane calculator. I vary between 5-7 gallons of e85 depending on quality.

Hi @VolcanicOrangeF56S,
Can you please share with us your first impression after installing this Forge IC? I am thinking of ordering it for my F56 especially that I drive it in a hot climate area (I would say Texas like weather)...
