coolant tank switching positions with intake

Has anyone tried to change the placing order of the intake and coolant tank? I have heard of a solution that switch their positioning. The tank is placed on the rear right hand side of the intake box and the intake is connected directly to the turbo and the filter is placed where the tank used to be! Any comments?

The MAF connector wiring is pretty short. You might have a problem stretching the wires to make it fit near where the coolant tank's mounted.

MAF is on S and JCW USA models (not in Euro models)

What on earth for? Why wouldn't it be on European models?

Not sure, but that's what I read. I think it was on a discussion about oiled vs dry air filters since oiled filter may damage the maf.

Emissions rules...
Same as 2 cats vs one....
It's all about cost...to get a small gain in cleanliness, a few more $$$ must be bolted on...
In some markets, these items are not needed to meet local/regional rules.....
So when doing mods...youbmust pay attention to the modders location....

Yea, its kind of different, they have a longer neck on the intake side, or a Maf delete tube.

We did a little stretch offtopic with the maf... so back to our subject... what are the advantages of this switching places mod?

It might make oil changes easier. I hate moving the coolant reservoir during oil changes, I always thinks I'm going to break the hose. I'm much more comfortable with the air intake.

Indeed, it does make oil changes easier, and with proper design no intake plumbing or filter box removal is required. There are additional advantages as well. Less intake plumbing absorbing heat from close proximity to the engine and true cold air is ducted from the front bonnet.

Thanks John. Flow testing and data collection underway. It has to perform if we're going to put our name on it.

The DNA Intake system includes all the necessary hoses and parts to do the reservoir and intake swap.
Only thing is that it only works with non-maf cars. And it is made for N14 engines only.
