Drivetrain Sputtering issue
Sputtering issue
Ok guys lil back ground I got manic stage 2+ Alta cai catless dp and devils own meth Injection all installed in a 2011 mini Cooper S with 38k miles
I am experiencing a bad sputtering and back fire at 3-4k at WOT
I only experience when I am in map A,B, and assuming C since I haven't tried that when it is turned to stock I do not experience it I was getting this issue before the meth so I know it's not the problem
so far when I look at my ultra gauge when the sputtering occurs boost stays constant as well as A/F, Fuel Rail pressure, MAI g/s, and timing
so far I have pulled the intake cleaned the filter cleaned the MAF. pulled the plugs they are OEM and less than 15 k old ( I did just order NGK 1422) they are all still perfectly gapped at the stock gap and do not look burnt or covered in crud just brownish tan and do not look bad at all
I am a tech so tomorrow I'm gonna hook up may scan tool have it occur again and look at misfire data because that I'd what it feels like but it does seem to be getting worse and more violent anything else I should look into? all help I'd appreciated and thank you in advance

What clutch and fly wheel did u end up going with?
also did u do the tune before swapping the timing chain tensioner or after?
I don't know much about the tensioners but maybe when it was swapped it altered ignition timing and maybe needs a retune?
Just throwing it out there. Not sure how it actually works. lol

well my timing doesnt seem to have changed I do moniter timing I went with oem as I am friends with my SM and I got it all warratied
no sense in spending money on aftermarket clutch with a free oem one right in front of me lol but everything was done after the tune I have had my tube since I believe January or febuary and I got all the service done just in the last two weeks

Yep whenever you increase boost your gap needs to be closer than the stock .032, the added boost makes it more difficult for a spark to travel from the two firing points.
