CAE shifter-show pics of mod consoles

Next on my list is to start modifying my console to fit the CAE shifter. I was wondering what some of you have done to clean up the cutting required. I'm thinking about doing some fiberglassing to try and make it look like it was factory. I know bonding fiberglass and plastic hardly ever holds .
If I can get the complete console smooth I'm thinking about hydro dipping it in carbon fiber
Any pics or ideas are welcomed....

If you haven't already, ra2fanatics build thread shows his process. Its a pretty long thread, so it may take a while to find. I believe its in the first half of his build thread, so I'd start there.

Thanks , yes I saw his mod a while back. I blame him for me buying the shifter...lolol Actually I bought the shifter mostly for the reverse lock out it offers. I try not to keep my foot on the clutch at a light, then when it turns green I try to rush and sometimes I pop into reverse... Plus the fact it puts your hand closer to the wheel with a short throw

If you had to drive this everyday and then drive normal height, or Craven adjusted SSK you'd miss it immensely.

I drove my buddy's JCW for an afternoon and I was not enjoying it whatsoever. Couldn't wait to get back into my MINI.

Well I wanted to get my console in and see if I wanted to add any more mods to it before the final finish was put on . Drink cup location is perfect now I'm think a slot for cell phone etc.
Need to install the Ebrake boot and the aluminum panel is getting a gauge, sport button/traction and a few other accessories buttons, cig lighter , USB , aux plug etc.

Some pics of how I got to this point

Waxed the hell out of the oem console and wrapped it in jersey material and soaked it with fiberglass resin.

Trimmed it up and got it in the car and started trying to figure out the angles. Beer boxes work great for forming

I moved the Ebrake up 1.5" and back 1.5". To aid in room for the cup holder. The end screws off and I can put a different tip in the ebrake that keeps the detent spring pressed and does not "lock" the ebrake up. Makes a cool cutter brake for kickn the azz around .
Poker table drink holders on Amazon 12 for 4. Brushed the lips in the lathe

Nice creative way to utilize that empty space underneath the window switches, I have never had anything down there anyhow. It's just waiting for customization because at this point it has no purpose other than access to the aux port which could be installed anywhere. Nice NOS switch!

I wish I had a lathe!

Thanks or the comment. It has taken me awhile to figure out what switches etc to put on my panel. I ended up just with the idea of laying out the panel with future in mind . To make it more funny I put , oil, rockets , smoke and radar to fill the holes. My radar switch does work my radar detector but the others are just for fun.
I extended the aux out to the panel so it's fiction able.
When I build my custom intake manifold I'm going to put fogger nozzles in it and plumb for NOS. more for a conversation piece but it will be functional with maybe a 40 shot. Need rods and Pistons first. Lol
Will post a pic of the panel installed
