EBay intercooler [FACTS]

OK so I'm tired of everyone(or most of everyone) being told a no name intercooler will not work as well as name brands.

I will upload my datalogs later in the morning but basically what I have been able to witness is that my eBay forge knock off intercooler performance as well if not better than the real deal.
The highest I see temps raise is 2 above ambient and that's doing pull after pull, after pull. And the lowest I saw it was 1 below ambient(there was dense fog/mist so that was acting like an intercooler sprayer would).

Fitment was spot on, i had a bmw bodyshop install mine and it went in perfect with the only modification being that a 1/4in hole was drilled to attach a bolt to secure the intercooler. No grill mods needed, no hose mods, nothing. And i see stock boost pressure as well, nothing lower then the stock 13psi with overboost )

Also note that my intercooler was sprayed black by the ebay seller and im getting those results.

As far as money spent. I spent 400 shipped to my front foor in california.

I dont think its as much reverse engineering as it is the same chinese company that makes Forge intercoolers just selling off product without the forge brand name on it

Prices on these are really jumping up. That now links to a $529 FMIC!

(Not sure if it was my comment that got the fur flying... My intent was that for $500+...I would just as soon spend a few extra bucks for a 'Brand name' one.)

Maybe some of us want to support suppliers that aren't just knocking off products in China? A big reason why I pay a premium is SO that I can buy a product from Kraven or Way.

Think of it this way. Would you rather the crown in your mouth to be made in China or the USA?

I bet you listen to music you didn't buy too. Same thing as stealing... Or at least buying stolen goods. I sure hope you invent something and then make no money on it because of people just like you.

I agree with the intent of your message, but:
If my $X00 is going to Joe Welder fabricating these things out in Kansas, and it is a fair value, then fine, I want to keep Joe in business.
If it is going to Joe Deskjockey who is ordering these things from China and then marking them up 300% because it's going on a niche vehicle, then screw them.

^^^ I agree with your take. I don't mind paying extra for the work of a skilled craftsman which I don't really see that in this case.

I agree with Rich. Better off looking for a second hand one, than taking your chances on a knock off. Just my opinion.

I will point out that somebody had to design it to start with. That time has to be paid for adequately, or somebody won't bother to do it next time. And that, in turn, would leave nothing to copy from.

Ebay parts exist because some of the developers of these aftermarket parts spend the money on research and development and instead of putting a reasonable price on the product, slap an insane price tag on it. Not gonna name names, if companies charged a reasonable price for their products they would sell a lot more of them and get the return, I'm sure we all would spend the extra money for the real deal products if they were a fair price.

I would not be surprised if a lot of the after market parts being manufactured in China and your basically getting the same part except for the packaging and branding.

Which means those insane prices are even more insane when you consider what it cost the make things in China

Absolutely!!!!

As long as the individual is comfortable with it and its integrity is present.

Don't want something that is labeled as such and then it falls apart down the road.
