Thanks for the quick response. Are you planning to just have the brake hose point down or are you putting an elbow fitting?

Im just going to install them with the hose pointing up, like the GP2. If the pistons are “backwards”, so be it. My car is strictly daily driver, not a track rat, so it shouldn’t matter.

Done with my conversion!

135i Sport calipers, painted red, of course.
Reboot Engineering conversion brackets.
ECS GP2 braided brake lines.
Cheap ceramic pads from RockAuto.
18mm spacers to clear my Miata wheels.

I have a GP2 master cylinder, but it hasn't been installed. Pedal effort is roughly same as stock - so close that I can't tell a difference on my daily drives. I will have to get the car coded for JCW Sport Brake Retrofit.

The software coding changes how the ABS pump reacts when slip is detected. If you don't drive the car in the snow and wet conditions, probably not needed.

Yep, i noticed on mine without the flash the abs kicks in really early. Also with hard stops it will go into the panic stop braking, so the side markers turn on solid and the rear brake lights get like 30% brighter.

I "LOVE" these brakes, by the way. All the stops, all the time. Not to mention the looks

By the way, what kind of the paint you used for calipers? Is it Brembo red or something else? Looks amazing!

Hahaha

I think JCW red is a little bit darker, though, and I wish there were maybe not SO red. But, it works for me.

Got my decals in today, so these will be full blown replicas soon:

Hello,
More questions, Can you please confirm the using front rotors are 330mm or 316mm for this conversion?

Also I am seeing there is GP2 brake master cylinder 34-33-6-857-907, is it needed for the brake conversion to be worked correctly?

Thanks!

GP2 rotors are 330mm.

I have a GP2 master cylinder in my garage, and had plans to install it. Now that I have the calipers installed, I realize it is not needed. Pedal feel is almost indistinguishable from before the caliper swap. I would recommend getting braided stainless brake lines for the front.

Anybody here ever tried or heard about somebody that retrofit a set of 135i’s on a r53? I know the front calipers are possible according to this forum but what about the rear ones? Thank you.

I don’t know anyone that has used the rear 135i rear calipers. If you used them, you would lose the parking brake.
