Drivetrain Direnza intercoolers
Direnza intercoolers
Anyone ever heard of Direnza?
I saw some factory defective intercoolers on ebay made by them(Logo upside down) and was wondering if anyone has any experience dealing with them or their parts?
for $250 it doesnt sound like a bad deal if thats the only defect(ill just paint it black), id like to not spend $800 on a heat exchanger if its possible
Thanks

from what I see the big difference is it has 2 separate cores and you can see the gap , not sure it would have much effect on performance. Wish the manf had some numbers as I don't know how to quantify a "treat" of colder air LOL

i might have to find a way to buy one of these then if it works then, i wonder if direnza makes all the ebay intercoolers
if there is any difference it will be negligible, but i dont see the 2 seperate cores you're talking about

Looks like a viable alternative if fitment is spot on. (no instructions included, but it should be straight forward)
If they list 2009 MCS shouldn't that also fit the clubman s? (same front end I believe)
Hell that's cheaper than a K&N typhoon intake kit. Add that, this and $29 for a VIP Custom turbo delete pipe and you've done pretty well for around $500.

I've been looking at these as well. Chatted with a couple of friends and relatives in the UK and two of them are using this brand.

i think im gonna get one of these intercoolers and a hotside boost tube(metal or silicone, still debating), both of those combined with my $40 intake i made(90 degree bend, 1 coupler and a K&N pod filter) it should give the best bang for buck(only thing left to do is turbo back exhaust and a tune)
just my input for the direnza intercooler
I was lucky as it was given to me by a friend with a gen 1 GP as he won it. Obv it doent fit a gen 1, so passed it on to me
My car is a Gen 2 R56 Cooper S with a dealer fit JCW pack inc the JCW Airbox, JCW Exhaust with the additional exh manifold, and JCW Remap.
Fitting was fun, even though i had it right up flush to the aircon rad, the aero kit bumper would not fit correctly. the bolts wouldnt line up underneth, so i thought it was because the grille was in the way. Even when removing the grille, it was a pig to line up.
I ran the intercooler for a week on show, had mixed discussion regarding the look, so in the end, i removed the air con rad so i was able to push the intercooler further back to the main coolant radiator. This then gave me the extra inch to get the grille and the bumper on (was still tight fit actually)
I had so many people say that all i need to do was trim the grille. There was NO way trimming the grille would make it fit. It was all down the air con rad and me not being able to push the new intercooler back as far as i wanted.
Overall, the intercooler does the job. Dropped my intake temps loads according to my dash command app on the iphone. Pulls nice and hard, and after some enthusiastic driving it boosts rather well and consistent. Even my over boost is about 2 psi higher.
Heres some pics lol

The lower radiator is the intercooler...

Here's the new one to bolt up...

Now I've got it fitted but doesn't allow me to fit the lower grille, and I was running out of time today. It's a tight fit, but the road test afterwards seemed to allow me a higher over boost....

Full shot....
