Silicone Coolant Hoses - Worth it??

Has anyone done an overhaul of their stock coolant hoses with aftermarket silicone hoses? ECS sells kits from FORGE and Mishimoto. Just wondering if it's worth "upgrading" to these hoses.

Thanks

I think you would be wasting your money. There isn't anything wrong with the stock coolant hoses.

+1.
I've driven BMWs for 250+K miles on stock coolant hoses w/out any regrets.

My MINI only has 56K miles, but I just did an engine swap (don't ask) and had to remove all coolant hoses for the swap. There were zero signs of wear, cracking, or fatigue on any of them. It would have been easy and inexpensive to swap them out during the job, but absolutely saw no reason to do that and re-used all of them.

Silicone is for looks on a street car....
Stock is good for about 10+years...maybe new stock would be smart, but a "upgrade" to silicone is for bling....feel free, but from a reliability standpoint, it would be hard to justify.

Sorry to revive an old thread. Anyone know about how long stock coolant hoses last? What if I could get a set of Mishimoto hoses for $130? My car is an '07 S with around 170K miles. I was planning on getting the coolant system flushed soon, seemed like a good time to replace them, if I was going to. I'm going to have some of the front apart chasing down an oil leak (turbo oil drain, filter housing or cooler, not sure, just going to do them all). Other than the expansion tank, which I JUST replaced, I have had no issues with the coolant system...well, and the thermostat and water pump...

Replacing is probably a good idea, but I would just go with OEM. On today's auto, they last about 10 yrs..

$130 for hoses is a waste. Standard hoses last for 100K+ miles and work just fine.
