Anyone used one of those universal oil catch cans on ebay?

Even have $15 ones lol. But I probably wouldn't get.
I understand you get what you pay for. But what are your thoughts?
The NM one is almost $400 for a catch can.

I really don't think there is much difference between OCCs. They are a can with an inlet and an outlet. You can get them with a sight tube, a drain and made out of different material. Some come with a buffer/steel wool inside which you can probably add. I paid a little more for mine because I wanted carbon fiber. I could be wrong, but that is what I see.

I ordered one of those ebay OCC(different than pictured above), they do look nice - haven't received it yet though.

It does come with hose, but the see through nylon reinforced type. I will buy some black hose and some fittings to connect it, and something for a baffle.

Are the fittings pretty universal? Connecting the hoses to an N18 mini should be ok? Or did you guys modify your installation? I have no experience with catch cans. lol

i know this is a gen 2 thread, but i do have a "home-made" OCC on my mini. it was one of those "air dryers" for like an AC system / compressed air tool systems.

as others have said, an OCC is literally a can that catches oil. the ebay ones are prolly fine, you may just have to use teflon tape or similar to seal some of the fittings.

i dont think id get one with the filter on top, seems like your just creating a vacuum leak there... as for the other designs, try to find one that is easily accessible, / cleanable / drainable. last thing you want is to have to rip the whole thing out everytime you need to drain it.

also, DONT use steel wool inside your OCCs!!! steel will RUST!!! use BRASS brillow pads; i got mine at the dollar store i think. 3 to a pack, only used 1 in my OCC.

Thanks for the advice. Is there any modifying or cutting for the N18 motor since the PCV tube is relocated? Any OCCs you guys recommend for a good price? The one with a filter does look like a vacuum leak. Idk what the point of that is.

just get anything really. people use these (like me) they can be had for cheap. they are neat, bc the bottom has a little deal designed to allow the (in this case oil) to be drained easily, without having to take the whole thing out each time.

other people have Made OCCs out of plastic / aluminum bottles (like one of the aluminum bud light bottles for example).
