I got an email back from Wagner and they only offer their intercooler in a black color. Oh well. Just gotta save for one 😋

Actually, I don't want the Alta, I don't want to do any modification to my bumper. lol
I didn't have to mod the bumper at all. I did trim a plastic support part, but it's cheap and easy to replace. ( but you don't have too...)

The Alta seems to work very well.

I got mine installed today along with NM boost tube. The bumper wouldn't fit right. I think some of the lower grill clips need to be trimmed. Kinda disappointing that I couldn't finish it tonight. Otherwise it seems to fit nicely.

My stock ic had a good amount of oil in there, so I am glad i did it.

Did you cut the top mounting tab? If you did it would totally fit perfectly with no trimming of the bumper.

Yeah, I did. I think it's the bottom grill tabs that need to be trimmed to allow the bumper to go a little higher and clear the sides of the ic. Otherwise, I am having a gap where the fender flare meets the bumper.

I got my Wagner intercooler a few days ago and will be installing it tomorrow in preparation for my tune from Manic on Saturday. So far I can say the build quality looks a ton better than that of the Forge intercooler and am looking forward to my drive tomorrow. I'll update once I have a clear impression but so far I would recommend this over the Forge.

I wonder if this is just a difference between the stock front bumper and the JCW aero front bumper (and consequently the difference in lower grills)?

I had to trim a hell out of my grill today. Removed my JCW badge as well as it would not clear the lower sides on the new ic. I am sure it wouldn't be a problem with JCW bumper.

Heads up, I attempted to send a pm your way, not sure if you got either one I sent. It doesn't show up in my sent items folder. Just curious what exactly you had to trim to get the front bumper to fit over the competition intercooler.

i have the competition wagner IC. it works great. IAT used to raise 30 degrees in just a 2nd gear pull, now it only around 10 degrees for a 2nd through 4th gear pull in the florida heat.

i have an 08 so its a pre face lift front bumper. so i had to trim the front bumper a lot to make it fit. i had to trim so much i could not use the oem lower bumper grill, i had to order the M7 grills. so keep that in mind. if you have the older model R56 it would be a lot easier to go with the one that fits without having to trim and buy grills.

I posted some install comments and measured data here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4033467

Saw similar results at the track a few weeks ago.

I live in Vegas , it's been a hot summer . 100-117 on my mini dash. I use a scanGauge to monitor my IAT and compare it to my mini ambient dash temp.
Cruzin at highway speed it seam to take awhile to cool back down. I can't compare it to another cool due to the fact I only have this one .
When the meth kicks in and cools my IAT down the Wagner keeps it cool for miles.
I don't know if there is a cooler that can cool in this heat but you would think at 70-80 mph it would get the IAT within 4-6 degrees pretty quick with the "volume" it has .
I wish someone would test these things. I do feel like the winner wouldn't win by much, also I feel like who ever cooled the best would prob have a higher DP across the cooler and who ever had the less DP wouldn't cool as well.....
Just my 2cents

I can verify it does take a lot of trimming on my '07. But I did get it to work with a lot of time and care. I trimmed the grille down, checked, trimmed, checked, trimmed, ect, ect. This was done on my MCS bumper. My JCW also required a little trimming (less than my MCS) to fit flush.

I forgot to note this was the Competition model.
