I believe the boost cut limit is slightly higher for the JCW??

Could be wrong, I know 22psi seems to be the cut off for S cars.

But that's just too high for daily drivers, and such high CR's.

Ahh, thanks. Great explanation, makes sense now

the code reads out as hexidecimals. when you activate the can tool to read, the speedo needle points to the digit for each of the 4 character code (0-9 or A-F) 10 = 1, 20 = 2, ... , 90 = 9, 100 = A, ... , 150 = F.
hope that helps.

It would NOT clear a P0420 code when I installed then removed a catless downpipe.

I have a feeling MINI didn't adjust the maf scale in the JCW map with their JCW intake and the DME is correcting for the added flow(they expected this small correction to happen). The JB+ will exacerbate this and cause it to reach(and probably bypass) a correction limit to throw a 0170 code. Simply hiding a 0170 system lean condition code is horrible advice IMO and doesn't fix the problem. That's not a code you want to be driving around for months and years unless you have factual data to prove AFR's are still safe(I.E. wideband o2). I know countless people who learned this lesson the hard way in various vehicle platforms in my tuning experience. The JB4 is a better idea since it can control a bit better.

What do you mean "with their JCW intake". The factory JCW air intake is the same as the cooper S intake, identical in all respects, same part numbers etc.

Very true. I just noticed my 2013 GP is just like a normal S.

That is fascinating. I remember reading that the jcw intake was suppose to be slightly freer flowing than the S. Mini certainly markets it as an upgrade part. The only other thing that i can think of is the header being different, and I'm trying to figure out why the JCW's want to run leaner than the S's.

Edit: I was inadvertently referring to the 07-10 JCW intake which flows better.

Yup! 07-10 had this

Now all the n18's just have a panel filter, regardless if it's an S, JCW or even GP
