nm tune vs accessport

Which tune is the best for the money? NM tune is $500 and accessport is around $700? This is for a stock car only mods will eventually be intercooler, and intake/exhaust. I am leaning towards the NM tune because i live 10 minutes away from their shop. Any reason to get the accessport over the NM?

Thanks

why wouldnt you wait to install exhaust and intercooler then tune?

because exhaust doesnt produce any gains. and an intercooler would provide marginal gains without a tune

an intercooler and FULL turboback together will produce close to the same gains as a tune. then the tune can FURTHER compliment those items due to cooler charge air values and increased exhaust flow, both of with can effect air/fuel ratios. put it this way too. if you get a tune now, then do turboback or intercooler later, youre going to want to retune then.

3" highflow catted turboback will still effect power in a positive manner. also, not everyone lives 10 minutes from NM, nor do we know where NM is located - and you have no location status anywhere. stating i live 30 miles from Helix means nothing to someone who has no idea that Helix is based in philly.

when you ask for help and someone voices a thought, its best not a be ignorant. you catch more flies with honey, or so to speak.

ps accessport can clear catless o2 codes... : )

Hard to get a straight answer around here. Although this should be easy, my choice would be NM Engineering. Cobb Racing stopped making Accessports for Mini a while back unless you find them used.

Living so close to neuspeed you'd be a fool not to do their tune vs access port. I'm not sure how much they charge for a reflash from stage one to two, but according to their website stage one is simple bolt-ons like intake, catback exhaust and stage two is intercooler AND downpipe. So a stage one will take care of you for a while especially if you're not planning on changing the downpipe.

That being said have you looked into Burger Motorsports JB+ that is if you have an N18 and not an N14 engine. They are also right next to you in Simi Valley.

BTW - It helps people give better advice if you list what car you have in your signature.

I'm really happy with the accessport that I have. After saying that, I've read very good things about NM and the customer service that they have.

It seems that most of the exhaust threads here indicate that the most performance gains come from the downpipe. High flow cats will still send a CEL. I don't know if NM can supress the CEL or not. Even with the best exhaust, you are looking at a 10-15 hp gain. Its not like there is 50 hp sitting there waiting to be gained with exhaust.

Have fun,
Mike

Im sorry i guess i should have been more specific. Its an 08 S with the n14 engine. In california, the great state of tough emissions testing.

Figured that a high flow cat may or may not pass emissions testing, definitely not worth risking it unless the gains are high enough. But it seems that the gains with the akrapovic catted Dp are pretty low anyways. So ill probably just get rid of the second cat.

JB+ looks awesome, but sadly doesnt support the n18 and we have no idea if it will ever support the n14.

If you're only 10min from NM that's a no brainer, go see them.

The advantage of the accessport is you can load different tunes or go back to stock in a couple of minutes. Wife preferred the car stock with out a tune so
if I was out of town I would just set it back. You can compare a couple of different tunes back to back at the track. All depends what you are doing and what you want to accomplish. Buy a used accessport and have NM load you up a couple of tunes. For the track I would want Sport Mode to not have the short pedal travel. Turbo hits way to hard and too fast and with more pedal it would be easier to modulate coming out of the corners at the track. Even with sticky tires it hard to put all the power down with out major spinning.

Hasn't the accessport been discontinued and no longer supported by the manufacturer?
