As it stands, I am contacting Eric about dynoing it. Will keep this updated more contemporaneously...

What did you do to fix the problem with the hanger?

How does the install look now that it is on the car?

How do You think the exhaust sounds ?

Hi all!
I just took delivery of the RSpeed MCS Cat Back (BBK) system. Had it installed today. Great build quality! Great fit and alignment! The guy who put it in did my buddy's MCS with a Borla Street and said the RSpeed was easier. Pipes look great! I am driving it and will give impressions later. My butt dyno is on a diet!

I made a *reversible* mod to temporarily work around the mid-car bracket fitment issue. This you'll see in the pics.

The TIPS alone look sweet. It's a very, very attractive system, though I spend more time in the car than below it (though I seem to be spending more time under it these days, which is a very good thing). The tips are pretty well centered, too.

>>How do You think the exhaust sounds ?

It sounds SOOOOO sweet. Mellow, definitely, but with a little rasp and burble on decel. I think the exhaust is finally as loud as the intake - what a wonderful melody all the way from 2K to 7K.

I think I have the picture problem worked out. As I said, I'll release them to Joe @ RSpeed first, then here.

I'm glad to hear that! Hows the sound in comparrison as to say the UUC. Is it quiter, or about the same. Whats it about compared to stock. I want an exhaust that definetly says aftermarket, but not obnoxious loud, i just want to be heard. Is this one about that?

What about power? Do you feel quicker?

thanks,
scott

I have had the Circuit
Cooper installed for one week and am very happy with it. I have a January 04 build date and had to reverse the hangers with a little heat. Took 2 hours to install and had to do a little bending here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. Great throaty sound, not too loud. I don't have to turn the car off 2 blocks away in order to get in the house late at night! I find every excuse to drive the car.

Once again, I gotta chime in. As the first owner of the slash tip design; I love it. No drone, nice sound, not too loud. The magnaflow will keep you from runnig during quite time at Road Atlanta, I got to run. I have beaten the h$ll out this exhaust and it still looks great. I haven't dyno'd it but I fell the low end torque is right on spot. I autox and do track events and the only thing slowing me now is the nut behind the wheel and my tires. I wanted the motorcyle style y-pipe and love my system. I think the straight cut style will probably give better top end and the slash cut will give better low end. The off throttle burble is addictive.

Finally some pics/info

well, I decided to try to hang it in a couple slightly different ways. The pics you'll see in the next post are of the next-to-last attempt to work out fitment issues.

First, you'll notice that the tips are off-kilter, but that's because I mounted the wrong one up (i.e. the attachment tabs are reversed, easily cured but it was a late night before I took the pics). The tips also don't stick out beyond the apron, which isn't a problem for me. In fact, once the car is warmed up, they are flush, if not protruding very slightly, from the apron. Honestly, the pics don't do the tips justice...

The mufflers don't seem to hang evenly (driver's side slightly lower than passenger side), but this is probably more a result of the fact that this attempt wasn't the best. I'll take more pics tomorrow once I get my camera back from the old lady

Anyhow, the only real problem is, as I mentioned previously, that the center resonator is about 1/2"-1" too far AFT and interferes with the mounting bracket that serves as a base for the hangers on the front pipe. I like the sound and feel of this system so much that I would really like to modify the bracket by either bending the metal at the front of it or cutting out enough to accommodate the resonator.

I've had some time to let the ECU adapt (does it really need to adapt??? seems kinda silly to me) and get the new exhaust stink to go away, and it definitely feels more potent down low. This I WILL verify when I get a day to head up to Helix - will do a run with the RSpeed exhaust, then the stocker. Mostly I LOVE the mellow burble on decel.

Can someone here host videos? I'll record the sounds at WOT, idle, inside the cabin, and whatever else you all want. Can do this tomorrow.

Hopefully my fitment problems are not typical of this product, it's EASILY worth making it fit IMHO.

FWIW it seems quieter than stock at idle and gets growly when you hit the loud pedal. Not a drone to report, no rattles, even without the front pipe hangers.

more pics...

you can see that the center resonator is low enough (first pic) that when attempting to place the rectangular bracket on the chassis it interferes because the resonator sits too far toward the rear of the car. Pics two and three illustrate where the bracket sits in relation to the chassis - the holes in the chassis are bolt holes for bracket mounting, so in the third pic the bracket is lined up properly and you can see the overlap between it and the resonator. In the second pic, you can see just how much of the resonator interefered with mounting the bracket - about an inch to be safe.

Dyno forthcoming

Will be hitting a local dyno within the next few weeks - a run or two with the RSpeed exhaust, then a run or two with the stocker. I'm excited to see what the charts look like! Will have to wait only because I can't currently drive (another story for another day) - laid up and outta commission for a spell.

M

PS Anyone want to host a video for me?

I have the slash-cut type 2 (see link below on Ebay exhaust feedback) and am pleased with it. The Vendor says he still has systems available. His address is:
