newb intake question

Hi guys I'm a new mini owner and had a intake question...
For a stock 2010 clubman s is it worth it to do a full new intake or just a drop in filter? Are the results worth the extra 200 for a cone filter setup? Thanks

Just a filter makes it a HAI, meaning that it'll probably be worse than stock. I say stick with one of the following three: DoS CAI, DDMworks RIS CAI, or AEM CAI. But if you don't want to spend the money, then just leave the one you have on now.

Thanks for the info but I may have worded it incorrectly...

Is buying a cai really worth the extra money over dropping a hi flow panel filter in my stock airbox?

I can't pull it up on right now because I'm on my phone, but there is research proven that if you remove the hood scoop after 20 mph the temperature inside the hood is the same as ambient temperature. But it will be slightly hotter untill then. so in reality. The only downside of any HAI is below 20mph. And regardless you will see minimal gains with ANY intake. Just more noise. Truthfully. It goes the same for the stock air box. You will see slight more grunt at low end with the stock box, but again. Above 20mph your car has a 360 degree feed of air instead of the tiny little hole in the factory air box. But the choice is ultimately yours

You all just open a can of worms with the HAI/CAI debate.

There are many threads about this.

Waste of money. Save up forty more dollars to buy a big rear swaybar. A mod that actually does something.

An intake is the very last mod I would do after you touch on driver training, tires, suspension, brakes, and then powertrain.
