Your graphs look solid BTW. And you're at 70% on the dial?

Running at the two o'clock position right now. That run was at the three o'clock. Had to dial it back down because I didn't give the DME enough time to adapt and I would occasionally get an error code telling me my MAF was irrational lol. I tried having a long conversation with it but that didn't help.

Tweak, adapt, tweak, adapt, lather, rinse and repeat.

I purchased the JB+ for my JCW Countryman and am very please with the results but am having one issue. I am getting a CEL with an error P0171 "System Too Lean" I have been working closely with Terry. He offers amazing support. I backed it down to 20% and am still seeing the CEL error. I did not order the CAN tool when I purchased the JB+. I am in the process of ordering it so we can further diagnose the problem and determine if it is an issue or not.

I will keep you updated.

I tried but my OBDII program would not clear it. I am told the CAN tool will clear this.

I've had Dashcommand about 1.5 weeks now. It and DashXL have a learning curve, but one you play around with it and find out what is necessary to monitor, it's great. I'm at 3600 ft altitude and see 5 degrees advance, 12.1 afr and 17.5 psi with a 6300 rpm shift from the auto tran. I'm at 12 o'clock now on the dial with the Buger recommended plugs and gapping. Although the WOT data looks great, that is not where the JB+ benefits me most. It is at the part throttle applications driving around town where the car feels so much more responsive.

I have to ask.
What is needed to run DashCommand?
I have an iphone5.

I'm fully cranked at the JB pot and all seems well with the CAN TOOL. It's showing stable AFR and I'm maxing out timing at the top of every gear I can wind out.....but I'd love a more detail view of what's going down.

It is most likely a JCW specific tuner plausibility code that will require you to leave the CT connected full time in "auto" mode. Which purges passive codes like like tuner codes, downpipe codes, etc. Once you have the CT in hand to read the actual code (OBDII readers won't read extended BMW codes) we'll know for sure.

You'll want to read the exact code using a CT or BT cable and email it in. But MAF plausibility codes are not generally among the tuner codes. So, there is probably something other than your setting wrong.

When I've monitored AFR I've consistently experienced this.

for mini's....yes....not all turbo motors.

The actual AFR values may differ but I believe the general concept should apply to most turbocharged motors.

Well yes, stoich to richer when transitioning to boost. Mini's and bmw's are unique in their forced induction fueling and knock control. Most other common turbo vehicles do not behave the same. But, that's what makes the ecu's(the programmed logic) in BMW cars so good.

All you need is your phone with the $10 dashcommand app, a $20 ELM327 wifi from eBay and a little patience experimenting with the app. Oh yeah, a nice empty road to let your car stretch it's legs and data log. You can view recorded data on your phone or email to view on your computer.

I am interested in this tune but got confused on whether it will work on my mini. I know the JB+ tune was intended for the 2011+ Cooper S. And I have read that some JCW are getting CELs. Being a newb to the car, this is where my confusion starts.

I have a 2012 Cooper S with the JCW tune added by the dealer. So will the JB+tune see it as a Cooper S or JCW? Just wanted to make sure it will work without any issues before I make the order once the JB+tune is in stock.

What does Terry think about the people going 100% with the JB+?

The time I did it, he advised against it. Said to keep a close eye on timing, AFR especially if you use E85. Was doing some digging around for a compressor map for a K03, not much on MINI. Easily found info on a K03 on a gti forum. Not sure how different their turbo can be from ours, but from the data posted on there, anything after 19psi is out of the turbos efficiency range. So any boost above that is just hot air. Still looking for info on the MINI side of things.

On pump gas start saving for pistons. On race gas, meth, or E85, you may be OK. You'd have to watch things carefully.

This isn't a "tune" in the traditional sense, so stop thinking of it that way. The JB+ is spoofing the MAF sensor data that goes to the DME. The DME is doing all the work, so it doesn't matter if you have a Cooper S, JCW, or GP. The only thing that will be different between the different models is the net gain. The higher your initial performance is, the less effect the JB+ will have. It will still create more HP for you, but gains on a JCW upgraded S will be less than if you started with a base S (your total HP will still be higher than an S with the JB+).

It will work fine but we suggest adding the CT for diagnostics if ever needed. It's cheaper if you get them at the same time.
