Having Quaife LSD would compliment DSC for safety reasons.
Quaife is a mechanical means of optimizing traction and then DSC kicks in when needed.
Turn off the DSC if you don't want the assist.

One thing I noticed after installing my quaife was that the ASC light came on more frequently. Even more reason to ensure that I disable it every time I start the car.

I would think that once you install a Quaife you would have to drive your MINI a bit faster to test it all out and in the process of appreciating that the Quaife indeed was doing it's job you'd loose a little traction at times and trip the DSC/ASC light to come on.

Of course this would be under test conditions only (off road).
The line for field testing starts to the right------->

I agree with minihune. an LSD can significantly help the DSC. In full truth LSD really only helps ASC, not DSC at all. For one, the LSD reduces the need for ASC (traction control) because it is doing a working similarly to keep the torque evenly distributed.

It certainly helps both my straight line launches as well as my acceleration out of corners, but the ASC light is much more prevalent now than pre-quaife days (when I forget to shut it down). Not sure if the torque biasing differential does not exacerbate the ASC action, especially on any kind of cornering acceleration. The ECU may see it as a slipping condition just because of the speed variance in the two drive wheels... or else I havy a really heavy foot and very aggressive driving style and the ASC is in "constant on" mode. Idunno...

Maybe just as loss of traction occurs the MINI's computer senses the problem the light comes on and the Quaife kicks in to work and beat out the ASC to the punch. Love those redundant systems at work. It's just like the space shuttle.
Bottomline? Fun Fun Fun. Don't forget to turn the DSC off.

Hey 2Cool, I noticed the same thing (pre and post PhantomGrip) so I got that auto-up Track Mode module from Ian Cull and I'll be installing it soon. I'm sure you read about it somewhere. It makes it so that each time you turn on the car, the DSC will be switched off unless you press the button (also makes it so that when you double tap the windo button it goes all the way up) AND if you want to use it as your garage opener, he made that work to.

Sorry to bother, but I did a search on this module, and couldn't find a thing about it. I would love the window and door options you mentioned. Sounds wild that it could do all that.

Can you pass on any addtional info?

Thanks.

Yes, even years later.

Here's his web site.
http://www.gbmini.net/MINIcircuit/index.shtml

He made this thing, and is selling it, but in batches. This was the second round, and I think there will be other.

Check it out, and follow the site for more info.
