JCW exhuast cutting? WHY?

Whats the reason that it has to be cut and then clamped? Im not aware of the set up under there but why isn't it just a bolt on type catback. I see this seems to be the case for most of the exhausts systems tho and I was wondering if someone can explain this. It just seems cheap for what the exhaust actually costs. Expecialy when being done at the dealer.

The stock exhaust after the downpipe is one solid pipe. The muffler, resonator and secondary cat are all welded into place. It's almost completely straight.

Oh ok, that makes sense now. It seems the clamps from Mini look durable and even the ones from the aftermarket set ups look sturdy. I just was concerned about it holding up. Thank you for clearing that up.

Just get the factory JCW exhaust if you don't want to cut. More expensive but its DP back.

Edit: NVM it appears to come in two pieces as well. Just has no catalytic converter.

Pretty much any exhaust you plan on installing will require you to cut the stock pipe.

Thanks for all the info, I was speaking with the SA at the dealer today about this. I may just go with the JCW one when I get to it for warranty reasons.

What warranty issues? It's a catback, it won't affect the warranty at all.
