Any other intercooler options besides alta if I want a black one?

I wouldn't do it yourself if that's what your asking. Regardless, why do you want it black since you won't see it really unless you move the lower grille? It will cost extra if you do decide you want it black and Helix can customize it to your taste.

Evolve offer theirs in black, for an extra 40pounds ($60). It is a top quality cooler as well, better than the alta (I have had both). They are in UK but ship overseas

Because I don't really care for the look of this one. I can clearly see it and this person still has the grill on.

Well if you park it in the sun, of course you'll see it haha. But I get your point!

You could also get it coated by Swain Tech for ~$200. Aside from making it look stealth black, the coating actually improves heat transfer.

I got one of the test parts from Helix (I think they only made a few), and it is great (I don't have it installed, so I can't give you a pic). I don't know how well the radiator paint would hold up. I don't know if the paint would stick well to aluminum, and that may flake off and look worse.

You can clearly see the OEM inter cooler and radiator here too. Does how your car looks currently bother you?

LOL! I put my car in the sun today to see if there was anyway I could see the stock intercooler. It did not matter what lighting angle I put it at I could not see it. The only thing I know is that if I installed the regular helix intercooler and it looked anything like the picture I posted, I would not be happy.

Since I do the fluids in the MINI regularly, I still have the original radiator. While it works perfectly, it was a bit ugly.

I sprayed it with this:

EASTWOOD RADIATOR PAINT

I run a ScanguageII 24/7 and this stuff if anything made it run cooler. With a 180* M7 thermostat it displays a range frm 177* - 179*

After picking out bits of road kill meat and bugs, it's applied in light sweeping coats so as to prevent buildup. Running cooler could have something to do with all the crap I pulled from the fins though

Don't forget that the new intercoolers are thicker than OEM, and will therefore be closer to the front grille.
