Drivetrain 2004 mcs ecu tune
Hey guys I have a 04 MCS .. 15% pulley on SC colder plugs etc... Was wondering where to get the ECU programmed maybe with the JCW tune or something similar that will take advantage of the mods.. Is there any advantage in doing this or am I just wasting my time??
RMW offers remote/canned tunes. Where in Canada are you? Im in Victoria and I'm going to a RMW event in Seattle in a few weeks. I believe Way offers remote tunes as well. I know there are other options (Search NAM for Evolve tuning.) but I know little to nothing about them, sorry. I'm sure others will chime in.
With such basic mods, the gain will be pretty minimal...
general rule, the more modded the car, the more needed the tune.
Now, you could do a remote tune....but for $500-800+ for a 15 hp gain is a no go for many...the cost of the flash loader, tune, dyno time...adds up fast. For a bit less you can do a canned tune...to save some $$, the ecu can be shipped off, flashed, then returned....less cost, but less gain.
On the "tune yourself" deal for the r53, imo let a pro do it...too easy to create a bing bang, burn a valve, etc...but byteronic (spelling is off i'm sure) does offer a product.
Most coopers s's with 15% pullies, an intake and exhaust run around, for years no tune, no issues. A tune is a nice thing for many, but CAN BE A HEADACHE for some...worries of subtle wear occuring, causing the tune to go bad, geting regular error codes, or even just getting overflashed by the dealer when getting serviced or repair is on the list....
So just be honest about decideing if a tune is worth it in YOUR situation.

A proper tune is always good regardless of mod, it all comes down to the "best bang for your buck." We offer two solutions for the R53... read up more about it below and feel free to explore your options:

Torque is where the power is/felt, and in most cases using stock injectors like you are still using, will not provide the power you seek.
Get a set of JCW 380's or M7's 400cc Injectors and THEN get the DME tweeked.
