Sounds like a nice result (no pun intended!). I would say your results are in line with what others have been saying about sound and performance. -Pete, Stratmosphere

>>There's absolutely no point in having an exhaust header if you have a restrictive catback (like the JCW). Since you did all those other mods, I'd say you HAVE to change your exhaust!

I had an indepth disscussion about is with a guy from AMD USA and according to him adding a Miltek header to a JCW Exhaust is pretty much on par with having a full miltek system.

>>Since most of the performance mods were installed within a short period of time, it's hard to pin point the exact benefit of each individual mod. One thing I know for certain is the car starts pulling away in low RPMs (as low as 2k). I believe the Milltek header/exhaust combo produces more low-end torque allowing the car to accelerate faster. With JCW itself, the car wakes up around 3k. The difference is definitely noticeable.

Some dyno results from MINI2.com as mentioned before-
JCW Cooper with AmD/Milltek Extractor manifold and JCW Cat back with oneclick is 217BHP

JCW Cooper with AmD/Milltek Extractor manifold and AmD/Milltek Cat back with oneclick is 220BHP

The difference is 3 HP but it doesn't mention what the curves look like (where they peak) nor the torque curves and how they might be different.

Based on a 3 HP gain it doesn't seem that changing to the Milltek cat-back is worth the effort. Both exhausts are quiet compared to the loudest options. Neither is cheap and appearance wise the JCW kit exhaust is better looking and has more value in completing the kit.

If indeed the torque is higher for the Milltek system then that would be a benefit or if the HP peak was broader or sooner then that would be another plus.

I don't think it would be easy to tell the difference between 217 and 220 HP when driving the two. Makes one wonder the value of adding the Milltek exhaust header at all let alone changing the cat-backs. However to those who are squeezing the last bit of performance out of their mods 3HP is still 3 HP.

Hi Minihune,

The figures quoted are with the One Click.

Normal Works Cooper S: 200bhp
Works Cooper S + One Click: 208bhp
Works Cooper S + One Click + Miltek Header:217bhp

So you're looking at around 9bhp gain by adding the header so it's not bad. I agree with you on the Miletk Cat back, not worth it for 3bhp.

The deeper tone of the Milltek could've accentuated the sensation of speed.

Yup!

LMB,
One thing to note is that you cannot assume that since
Works Cooper S + One Click + Miltek Header:217bhp
That
Works Cooper S + Miltek Header:=209bhp
In fact it could be less and the addition of the Milltek header only makes the 9 HP when used with the One Click or other ECU upgrade. An ECU upgrade will allow better performance all around depending on how it is tuned.
There are some dyno reports (by RDR) that show minimal gains by any header.

Dave,

Perception counts. If you think you are going fast then it's almost the same as if you are.

Could you point me in the direction of that thread?
