Prep for a CAI install

I recently purchased an Alta CAI, and planning to install onto my 06 MCS this weekend.

The unit is unused, and everything is sealed up in the factory packing. But the unit has a stamp of July 2004, on the outside of the box. Again, everything came sealed up, including the foam filter and inlet box. The inlet box is black, so I presume it's a V2 vintage.

Was wondering if I should clean the foam filter, and then re-add fresher oil. It's currently in the original sealed plastic bag, with oil all over. So I'm wondering if things are cool, to install as is.

I realize I'll need to clean off excess oil, so as not to mess with the mass air flow valve, etc.

just wanted some feedback.

TIA,

-Jav
