Pulley Change

Hey all, I just got the Alta 17% Pulley and I'm way excited to do the swap. I'm also going to be doing an Oil change on my super charger at the same time so the whole charger will be removed from the car. If I have the supercharger off of the engine do I still need a pulley removal tool?

With it off the car you can do it in a vise without the special pulley puller

I may order one, and not open it, then if I don't need it I can return it, and if I end up having trouble and need to use it, I have it on hand.

I'v never seen it done in a vise. We usually just cut them off with a cut off wheel but I wouldn't recommend it. I think a pulley puller will be the easiest.

I'm trying to figure out how a vise would make pulling the pulley easier...

+1 but be careful not to ruin the shaft.

It's going to be a week or two before I do this, A couple people I live with are going on a vacation so I'll have an extra car to drive while they are gone. I'm actually going to be modding a lot of things all at once. Alta 17%, Cravenspeed CAI, Megan Racing Catback, and a Unichip tuning kit. Right now it's bone stock so I'm excited to get these on there and feel the difference! If I end up using the vice I'll try to take pics and upload it for you guys!

Why risk it. Do it right and buy the puller.

My thought too, a $69 tool is much cheaper than the cheapest supercharger on ebay...

Gosh I hate those things! Yeah I'm planning on the puller, I was just wondering if there was an easy way to do it once supercharger was off. Looks like pulley it is!

Get the much stiffer TSW motor mounts!! You could snap the precat on your OEM header from the brutal back and forth movement that your engine makes under heavy loads, happens when you're constantly pushing your car.. And trust me, you will be once those mods are in... Headers are expensive and a pain remove and install, ask me how I know this.....

Idk man... I'd rather get a TSW lower engine mount for ~$110 or so. I wouldn't want to have complete solid mounts.. My buddy has them on his miata and his radio skips from the engine's vibration

The header that I used has its own flex pipe, it's completely different from what mini uses on their oems though. It flexes a lot less than its supposed to, which is kinda bad. The tips vibrate a lot more at idle than the use to.
