Hey Gearheads, I'm a 6 month MCS newbie in hot & humid FL looking at my first mod. It looks like the Alta or Pilo intakes are best. My brief question: it is 90+ degrees for over 4 months a year here. Has anyone run the above CAI's ALONE in such weather. Does it really make a substantial difference, in other words in such heat? Thanks, I have no pulley mod.

'04 Red MCS, White 16 " wheels, top, mirrors & racing stripes. Anthracite dash, cloth seatsXenons, MP3 adapter. Magnetic circle (racing) numbers on doors.

I too live in Fl. and have the Alta Intake and all is well. There are several other mods to my MCS and the heat is not an issue. The only change made was to the filter element on the Alta, I traded the foam in on a K&N element and it works, sounds and looks great. Let me know where in FL your located and good luck with the mods.

What in particular are you woried about? These intakes really aren't "Cold Air" in takes in the sense that they get air from a colder spot. They do route the air differently trying to keep the air away from the engine (where it's hot) to try and cool the air down a little more than stock.

The biggest thing most of these intakes do is allow more air in through the filter. (and the filters are usually good for the life of your car... you just have to "re-oil" them.) The heat in a place like Florida will hurt your engine (in terms of performance) but that happens with both the stock setup and with an intake. In fact, you may not see any measurable gains when it's really hot out but it certainly won't hurt your engine if that's what you are wondering.

Also the Pilo is more the economical "bang-for-the-buck" intake while the K&N Intake and the Alta intake are a little more expensive but offer slightly more HP. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Yes, I wondering if any performance gain would be minimal, given the heat, rather than if damage occurs to anything.

Thanks for responding Craig. I'm actually in the Jax Beaches but it's hotter than blue blazes 4-5 months up here. Do you feel the CAI made a noticeable difference during summer months? If yes, should I consider the Pillo w the better filter element or is the Atla worth the foam filter.
