Drivetrain Dyno MCs r56 just 150 hp?
Dyno MCs r56 just 150 hp?
I have a problem. My stock MCs, cant produce more than 150hp.
All the parameters are ok, no problems on computer, turbo 0.9 bar.
Did anyone had the same problem? What to do?
thanks

Yup. The advertised power is measured at the crankshaft. When you put it through the transmission and driveshafts, you lose a lot by the time it actually turns the wheels. 15-20% drop from engine to tires is typical. (15% is really good, actually. You're unlikely to see that anywhere but chain- or belt-drive motorcycles and other vehicles with very simple and light drivetrains.)

some dyno's run on rollers under the tires, others run by bolting to the wheel hub.....
Outside an engine builders shop, a crankshaft dyno is VERY rare, and hard to use on a modern electronic controlled motor.....all the stuff must be taken out and connected on the dyno....lol..no car body!!

Bet the others had a few mods...and remember..there has been a motor change on the MINI...so year matters, FUEL matters, and current MX matters...have the valves ever been cleaned? Fresh oil? clean air filter? recent spark plugs? And the HP sounds like the important number...but tourque is the REAL number that makes a car fun to drive.
Trending Topics
The spark plugs are new, airfilter clean, gasoline 100 octane, fresh oil,...
Dyno is accurate, becouse on other minis they were 167 to 175hp, and they are stock. My is 2007 and others are from 07 to 09. I thinks the difference iin hp is to big.

Fuel, and miles and how the car was treated means tons...and an '07 is first year of the "prince" engine production....know quite a few that got tebuilt motors swapped into them after only 6 months....drivers said they were never the same...couple traded to a r53 to wait till the bugs ...timing chain, and valve carbonization issues being the biggest were worked out....
oldest car, lowest hp is not that uncommon..

If you've someone you trust, a thorough compression check might shed some light on things.
If it were mine I would look into it, as any slight problem with compression could be cheaper to address now than in another 10,000 miles.
Bad or uneven numbers could point to a carbon problem affecting the ability of the valves to seal properly, or even a bit of ring wear.
Just a thought.
Cheers,
Charlie

Fantastic! Next mod - oil catch can.
For the stock R56 S, boost is 10 psig, over-boost is 12.5 psig. I think you won't see the over-boost during a dyno run.
