Wow! That's an excellent site.

The information in their experimental testing page was excellent.

What I got is:

1) It's real easy to make your braking distance worse by adding a big brake kit on the fronts.
2) The stock braking systems are fine up to repeated 80 MPH stops, but begin to get worse at 100 MPH stops.
3) Using the best-of-the-best front and rear replacement reduced the braking distance by 3 feet in a 116 foot stop. That's about a 2.5% improvement for lots of hundreds of dollars even for track usage.

Ithink better tires are the way to go rather than an expensive brake kit. I don;t think I have the skills to evaluate a vendor's braking system, and it it can make the braking WORSE than stock, that's a bad thing.

(I have no doubt that Peter's car stops well. In my opinion only, it's the tires not the brakes.)

I'm sure this is the case, stock brakes seem fine, but not for them canyons! When you're going through em they *will* fade if you're driving hard, especially on the downhill runs. Hmm, nice cool night... Boy I want to make my brakes fade right this moment actually...

 

We have a infamous cyn out here called Tuna Cyn.It is all downhill, one way and recently repaved. When we get to the bottom you can look back and see a line of mini's etc with smoke rising from most of the front ends. We can tell who was pushing hard and who was just talking about it LOL . I did find that the slotted disks helped in this regard however and of course with those with BB kits there were no " smoking guns " :smile:
