Aquamist Meth Injection Question

Why does everyone use the Aquamist HFS-3/4 systems in their MINI's? Like what is it that makes them so much better than the other injection kits that can be found for less than half the price? Is it just their support or what?

Not trying to diss them or anything, Im just looking into going down this path and would like to get all of my facts straight before I do so. Thanks NAM!

For starters, Aquamist is the only kit that can trigger off of the injector duty cycle of the Direct injection. The pumps they use are of higher quality then most, the nozzles spray more consistantly. The kit was specifically designed for the MINI not a generic kit. They have specific detailed instructions for intalling in the MINI and wiring the kit. The support you get from Jeff at Howerton Engineering is outstanding.

And yes I do have an Aquamist kit for over a year now and have had zero issues.

I've had my kit for probably about a month now and love it. I have the HFS-4 and it's nice to have a kit that triggers on idc AND based on boost. Just a truly amazing kit that you can continue to tweak and adjust to tailor to your driving style.

I'm convincing my friend who has practically the same mods as me to get the HFS-4 just so I can help him install it into his R56. I know he's convinced in getting the kit.

I've been running a system from Alky Control with great results for about 5 years now . Meth is not something to fool around with so look for quality pieces , steel braided lines , proper fuel cell etc. Do your homework and you will see a difference between many of the offerings on the market today .

Yeah, I saw you commenting on that one for sale in the market place and I can't tell you how much sleep I've lost for not jumping on that deal... Lol but still these are all things I wanna hear. Now for my next question how difficult was the install/setup?

And randy that is a BEAUTIFUL setup you have running there, how much was the kit you ended up going with? And any particular reason why you chose it over the aquamist system?

Yeah I told my friend Tim to jump on it bu we were both slow at seeing it for sale. I would have installed it for him.

You know I was going so slow and trying very hard not to f$ck it up that it took me a day and a half. But now knowing how to do it all I'm confident I can knock it out pretty quickly.

2 reasons really why I did it myself. 1) didn't wanna pay someone $600 to install it and 2) I wanted to challenge myself and do this myself. And now that I know how to do it I'm waiting on my friend to buy the kit so I can install it in his R56 for a fraction of a normal install price.

don't bruise your knuckles up too much, b/c i'm going to need help installing mine if i ever get around to buying it. man, $1k is a boatload of coin to drop for that thing. i need to decide if i'm keeping my car for the long run, or if i'm going to trade it in for something else, like an f30 that i can have your friend LT pimp out. =) does he do much with the diesels? i entertained buying a 335d a little while back, but the deals weren't as amazing as i thought they'd be. might look to see if i can score a good deal on an x5 3.5d.

If there's a will there's a way. If you decide to go with a 335d, you name it it'll be done anyway you want it. We have a friend who has a diesel. Owner had a X5 but returned it on lease and now has a F30 335i, F10 535i M5 body conversion and I believe they still have their E90 M3.

If you keep modding you will enjoy the car a lot. My friend Tim has said he would sell his R56 countless times but with each thing he does to it he just enjoys it more and more. Especially recently when we went tracking and he had R888 he just had a blast.

Whenever you do get the kit just let me know and I can do the install for you.

i'm trying to figure out which direction i'm going to go with my next car purchase. it's not imminent yet, but it prob won't be too far down the line. i like the work your friend has done with some of those f30s. the problem is, i prob want a little more room than a 3-series. i'd love to roll into a 5-series one day, but that's gotta make financial sense as well.
i actually already do enjoy the mini a lot. my wife drives it to work daily since she has a bit longer of a commute, but i pretty much drive it all other times. she's definitely adopted a less passive driving style since we got the mini, and dropping meth injection and a tune in would prob contribute even more to her new-found style of driving. i think more immediate that anything else, i want to get a tint on the car. do you have any good recs for that? thanks!

Well, imho I think the new 3 looks like the old 5, and the new 5 looks like the old 7, and the 7....well it's a true yacht now, lol.

I think the new 3 would be plenty of room for you and the family. If you haven't subscribed to the LTBMW page on Facebook to see his creations, this is my friend's F30 335i.

I hope JZ who is 1013MM doesn't get mad show showing his work in other forums, but he'll understand I think.

As far as tint goes, my friend said The Car Shop in Alhambra, but I'll give a shoutout to Extreme Autowerks in Cerritos. The guys there, Edgar and Alex will take care of you. I brought him my JCW front bumper and, at the time, my Challenge Splitters and had them clearbra them. Amazing work. They didn't think they were going to be able to wrap my Challenge splitters with 1 piece each, but they pulled it off and they're quick too. They do great work on window tints as well

no family yet...but you tend to need the most room when you first start a family - strollers, car seats, etc. hard to plan for one, but also dangerous to ignore the potential of one when looking at new cars. those f30s at ltbmw look sick! do you know if there are a lot of mods out for the 2.0L turbos yet? those engines are supposed to be decently powerful, yet efficient.
gonna check into the tint shops you suggested...would like to get that done soon.

The 328i 2.0L Inline-4 Turbo? Yes, Burger Motorsport (BMS) has a tune for the N20 motor. There are exhaust options and I'm sure intake options out already. Check out E90Post for additional info. That forum is so much more fun and involving than NAM, MA, and MU combined.

I'm not sure how much they charge for tint since I've only gotten clearbra done there. I know they do amazing tint work though.

They do vinyl wrapping as well. It's not too hard to do vinyl of chrome trim yourself. Much easier and saves you from having to pay to get it done. Just buy the vinyl.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the plasti dip look. It doesn't look smooth, from some of the people I've seen that have plasti dip trim.

Might give them a call tomorrow.

Yea good point haha, any idea where I can buy vinyl?
Mine looks smooth but is rough to the touch, as expensive as these little cars are, idk why I even put 'rubber in a can' to it haha. Luckily it peels right off.

Where are you located? I may have pieces long enough that you can use.

Had the HFS-4 in the car for three days before it was hit. beautiful system. The shop that did the install deals mostly with rotaries, 2J's and lots of high dollar turbo setups. The owner was thoroughly impressed with the aquamist setup. I've got an AEM in the GLH and its marginal in comparison. To the point where I can feel the AEM come on and off.. the aquamist felt so seamless. Howertons tank and instructions were also fantastic. I'd highly reccomend going that way over a generic kit/tank setup.

Could you run with the stock intercooler safely and have it tuned for more power if you're running an aquamist kit?

just trying to bump this up to let everyone know that I'm starting a thread on the R56 forum thread pages to get 10 people interested in a group buy for the aquamist HFS-4+tank combo.

I have already talked to Jeff regarding a GB and he'd be willing to make it happen if we had 10 people so come over and sign up!

Hey guys, I'm gonna bump this too. I may have the chance to pull my HFS-4/howerton tank off my now written off cooper on friday. It will be sans some posi taps and the hard plastic line, but if anyones interested, I'll let it go cheap. Like I said, it was on the car for less than one days worth of driving. I'm now buying a 135i!

If you want it, drop me an e-mail asap at michaelwimmer@shaw.ca

I've also got an accessport, helix FMIC, K&N typhoon intake and BSH catch can with boost tap.. ohh and a JCW strut bar. I'm in Vancouver Canada.. so some of that stuff I'm not gonna ship.

It would get more exposure if it were in the vendor group buy section.
But, Howerton Engineering would have to register on NAM as a vendor to put it there.

yah, I figured that putting it here wouldn't generate much exposure, but I'm hoping that word of mouth will trickle through posts on NAM and ppl would be aware of it that way!

I'm betting anyone who is considering is watching this and the other water meth threads and should find out about the group buy.

I'll add to the fact that it is a beautiful system with the howerton tank and the instructions are brilliantly laid out.

For the record, my setup has now been sold thanks for all the interest. Hopefully I can put a bit of $$ aside for a tune for the new 1'er!
