Good find. Make sure to select 8mm which is a $5 option.

Dang, I just bought new MSD 8.5 mm wires to go between my SD coil pack and NGK Plugs. I paid too much, obviously.

On a positive note, the hard acceleration stumble that developed following my pulley install disappeared. The only problem I have with the MSD wires is the red color.

I've read a few comments in a couple different threads about the figment of the MSD coil.. I just installed one in my r53 last weekend. Coil, plugs and wires took under 15 minutes., the coil fit like stock?.?? Dunno what the issue is.. I bought mine from ALTA and they supplied new bolts..

The car runs fantastic. Better than before but I don't relate it to the specific parts installed, just the fact they were new and not OE 90k miles plugs , wires and coil...

The issue with the MSD is it is a waste of money & is no better than the oem coil pack. If you like the red color cool, then it is worth it to you. For me & some others not so much. You most like likely feel the performance of the new wires & plugs. At 90K they were truly shot. Coils either work or don't.

It probably isn't. My stock coil was a mess with corrosion on the terminals, so I replaced it when I did my pulley.

If you read my post I said the same thing you did.. about the parts being new and not 90k jobbies...

I have read numerous complaints about fitment of the MSD and mine exactly replaced the OEM one.. perfectly.. so I don't know where those complaints come from..

Your 90K coil was working fine. You paid for a shiny red coil pack. Your money, but I fail to understand why. The folks who know like RMW say the stock coil is all one needs, but it isn't red. You aren't going to feel a difference from changing from an oem black coil pack to a shiny red one.

Motor on....

I agree you are not going to feel a different between a SD coil and a properly operating stock coil. The problem is the stock coil terminals corrode and degrade performance. It is not so hard to clean the coil terminals but it is a really pain to clean the corrosion out of the spark plug leads. If you clean the stock terminals all the time, there is no problem using the stock coil. But how many people want to check and clean coil terminals.

Every Mini from our club that I have looked at has had corroded coil terminal leads.
To me that is enough reason to change to a better coil.

My MINI has well over 100K on it. The terminals on the oem coil pack are nice & clean. I swap out my wires about every 30K or so. I use dielectric silicone on the wires & terminals. Maybe that is the reason for no corrosion on mine.

It is a 5 minute job to check & clean terminals. That may be hard for some folks, I understand.

That's the problem.... There isn't a better one, just check, clean, rinse repeat....
