Thinking with starting with that for starters.. Have no other upgades yet. Claims to gain 10hp.. Worth it? Anyone have it?

HP gains vary, some poorly designed systems will sometimes hurt the performance of your engine (create more restriction), so research thoroughly.

Check of Defender's of Speed CAI. I'm very pleased. The car feels a lot stronger.

Very nice. I checked out a couple vids and loved that "psssssssst" blow off sound. But, after awhile does it get alittle too repetitious with the sound? Or do you just love it everytime?

It took me a little while to get used to it, but now I love it. Don't use the YouTube videos as an indication of the sound, since they've changed the filter material and I'm told the sound is now lower. FULL DISCLOSURE - my car was used to help prototype the new parts, and I received the parts for free. Still, if I didn't like the intake, I wouldn't have chimed in.

I just put the Alta on my JCW 3 hours ago and took it out for drive. Love the sound of the super charger kicking in. If you get tired of the noise you can roll up the windows and the sound is about the same as the stock air box. I have the K&N on a naturally aspirated engine also. It was a noticeable gain in power on the JCW engine, just feels like it is breathing easier. Between the two of them I would make the decision by price and convenience. The Alta is going to be very easy to clean where the K&N is a little more difficult and time consuming. I have had 6 K&N cone filters and decided to try something different so I went Alta. The most noticeable difference with the K&N was on a 4 cylinder Jeep. The least on a big V8.

your definitely not going to see 10 hp from this and honestly the car isnt going to feel any different. the sound alone is worth doing the mod tho. you cant help but love that super charger whine. plus it looks good in your engine bay. between the two id say go with alta. the k&n doesnt look like keeps all the hot air out. plus i think the alta looks better and is probably the most popular because it seems to be the loudest of them all

I am running the Typhoon on my 2009 MCS (manual transmission) and love it. I went with the Typhoon over some of the others because of price, looks, and 50 state emissions legal on my year. The one thing that I ended up doing was taking out the K&N RU-4960 that comes with the Typhoon setup and put the AEM Dryflow 21-202DK in its place. This means that there is no oil on the filter to potentially cause issues with the sensors. The two are a direct match and K&N makes AEM's filters (the metal clip holding the filter together even has K&N's name). I then run an Outerwears Pre-Filter for the RU-4960 on the setup. I have a cat back system and other mods that also do impact the performance on my car.
