Drivetrain Broken BOV?
Broken BOV?
Hi, yesterday when I was trying to accelerate full throttle 1st, and then 2nd gear, half way 2nd suddenly a big bang noise and the car can no longer hold boost when over 3500rpm under normal acceleration.
Used my Bavarian Technic Scan Tool, there is no engine code pops up, checked all the clamps, hoses from cold/hot side/ intake, all tight in place, only suspect is the electric Valve (BOV).
So I took the BOV off and it doesn't show any crack from the outside as well (Its my first time taken it off).
Question, can you compress the BOV just by finger pressure? I asked because on the GTI turbo I used to have, its so tight that in no way I can do it.
Ordered one from ECS Tuning, see if thats really the cause.
Thanks guys

You can compress the OEM diverter valve with your finger. The spring isn't that strong.
Sounds like a boost tube blew off so double check that again. Don't forget to check the wastegate and vacuum pump, vacuum tank connections.

thanks for your info! just contacted them hopefully they have not shipped yet.
been double checked all the clamps, turned out it was the clamp of the 'sound generator' loosen up.
lesson learned, always tighten up, check your clamps regularly.
