1st story - The other day I was on the highway trying to get past this slow driver in the left lane (in NJ, the left lane on major highways is for passing only). So I'm in the middle lane trying to get a big enough opening to dart into the left and hit the daylight in front of this guy. Finally the opportunity arrives and I gun my MINI and in a matter of seconds, he's a speck in my mirror. I was very impressed with my MINI's acceleration being that I was already at highway speed AND we were going uphill. As I put the clutch in to shift from 4th to 6th to just cruise, I realize...I'm already in 6th! Wow! I've had the 19% pulley for 10k miles now but wow - I still couldn't believe that I took off like that in 6th gear. I swore I was in 4th!

2nd story - This morning i was behind a modified WRX. I don't know how much it was modified but it was not a stock exhaust. And it wasn't a fart can exhaust either, so I assume it was a performance exhaust. That may have been the only mod but I don't know.

Anyway, the WRX is going painfully slow at 5:45am this morning on our way to the highway. So we finally get on the on ramp which is 3/4 of a circle and he's still going pretty slow. So I never imagined he want to make a go of it. Off of the ramp he takes off down the highway. I was taken a bit not expecting it and was caught at low RPMs in 2nd gear. He also hit the gas considerably before me and took a several car length lead. Into third I went and I felt like I was going to pull him in. Into fourth and now I was definitely accelerating faster. I stopped b/c I hit a speed a didn't feel like exceeding at the time and b/c my radar started blipping a bit. But I closed several car lengths to less than 2 behind him. Another 10mph and I would have caught him.

Many months ago I got killed by a WRX on a highway onramp. The ramp was uphill immediately after a very tight 180 degree turn which followed a straightaway. He beat me good on the straightaway but into and out of the turn I was on his bumper. Then up the on-ramp he turned it on and my MINI was grasping for traction. By the time my MINI's tires found pavement, he was halfway onto the highway. That was a different situation and with my 15% pulley. Now if we started already at speed, my MCS with the 19% is definitely faster than a standard WRX.

Thanks Helix, jlm and all the others in bringing this mod to the market!

Eric - Give me the GIAC already! I need it!!! They won't know what hit 'em!

Dan it was blue. What do you mean by model? Do you mean year? It definitely was not a 2004. It also had the standard WRX spoiler.

The acceleration of the 19% at low rpm sometimes makes me forget what gear I am in as well. 4th gear in particular, just putting around town, accelerates faster that 4th gear has any right to.

greatgro - I meant wagon or sedan. My cousin has a black wagon, very stealthy and frighteningly fast...

I want an MCS with a pulley....

>>2nd story - This morning i was behind a modified WRX.

This is what I like to hear - I sold my modified WRX to buy the MCS and I'd like to have my MCS tuned to the same power/weight ratio within 1 year. I'm hoping intake/exhaust/19%/intercooler/LIGHT wheels will get me there.

I had fun with a standard WRX and a neon srt at the dragstrip last week, mind you this is not my forte' crappy reaction times(im use to big v8's at the strip) both the wrx and neon pulled out in front, but by mid track i was closing in , and passed them both by end track, also mind you this is only a 8th mile track, i was quite impressed, i would have dusted them both provided i was more experienced with the tree in the mini, the timing is way diffrent then my 800hp/600ftlb GTA BOth the SRT4 and WRX were pretty much stock at least thats what they claimed. It was fun!!! Hey Andy since i know you are the keeper of the 1/4 mile times do you have 1/8ths? just wondering where i fit in the group.... My times were: Reaction .78( ),trap speed 87mph, time 8.5, i know i was faster than any of the "imports" there that night, but of course slower than alot of the american muscle, i might have been able to get a couple of the "stockers" but must of the V8 guys are far from near stock!!

Caddman,

What was your 60-ft time? Also, are you still using the Magnehelic?
