Drivetrain shift knob and B&M short shifter...
shift **** and B&M short shifter...
Hi guys, I just bought a 04 r53 as my DD
The last owner installed a B&M short shifter and an aftermarket shift **** on it.
After doing some research, I found that the thread size of the short shifter is M12x1.25.
Hence, I ordered a BLOX ball-shaped weighted ****
However, when I was trying to remove the old shift ****, a problem appeared...
I CANNOT remove it!
I rotated it anti-clock wise, and after giving some power it loosened and can freely rotate it.
Then I thought,"Great! Time to take it out!"
...But it won't.
I continue to rotate it counter-clock wise... for at least 30 mins.
Yet I didn't really see any differences... Same height.
So here comes the question: Should I just pull it off like the oem one?

Here are instructions on how B&M was installed. I'm thinking that you just pop it off as well.

Make sure on the aftermarket shift **** there are no set screws. They are usually under a trim ring on the bottom of the shift ****.

If there is no set screw and the **** does not pull off then I'm thinking the threads were destroyed on install and your probably twisting the thing hopeless forevermore.
I can tell you from lots of experience with other cars that sometimes you have to PULL like crazy to get a pressed **** off. And don't hit yourself in the face when it finally pops because many of people have done that.
Otherwise I've got no experience with B&M shifters or whatever aftermarket **** you have on there. Good luck!

So are we *SUPPOSE* to spin it off?
If you look at the link Evasive posted then you can see by the picture that the lever itself has threads on the end. However, you can mount the OEM **** onto the B&M lever too by pressing it down (because the OE ***** are not threaded).

What it comes down to then is not the lever but whatever **** you have on there. It seems this lever will accept both press fit and screwed on type applications. If unscrewing isn't getting you anywhere then I'd have to believe you have a press fit ****. If the **** wasn't from B&M then perhaps it was threaded by the threads are stripped in which case you might have to get out a dremel and just cut the wood off.
