Drivetrain The Always Up-to-Date Thread on Tuning 2011+ (N18) MINIs
Did an uphill highway pull on the weekend. 2 of us on board, ran 3rd to 6000, 4th pulled hard, shifted straight from 4th to 6th - still pulled like a freight train. No sign of knock/ping with a 50/50 mix of 91 and 94 octane on board (tank was at 1/2 when I filled up with 94).
Temps were 80-90, can't remember exactly, humidity has been fairly high (80 ish)

I did notice a little idle fluctuation a few times, it did smooth out as soon as It warms up. I thought that this would be expected as it is working with the MAF.
With how easy this process has been and how professional Terry is, I think it's a no brainer.
I am running mine on a auto that had a previous tune that was overwritten in order to install the JB. I have about 100 miles on it and it would also compare to the bench tune. I will say that I have no surging issues that were common with the auto tunes. The JB pulls a lot smoother and stronger all the way to redline where the other tune felt like it was hesitating. Overall very happy. Can't wait for stage 1!!
The throttle delay is not corrected with the JB, the throttle map is tighter meaning boost comes in sooner making the throttle more responsive. If you have an auto, I would keep the sprint booster to help with throttle delay.

As far as I'm concerned this is how the car should be at delivery; but since it's not, just thank your lucky stars that Terry has jumped in with this great product.
I too can't wait to see what the next developments will be like.
I'd also recommend this as standard equipment for any MINI enthusiast that finds themselves reading this thread.
I have noticed a cold idle fluctuation with my car since new. Actually seems better with JB+. We'll see how it is on a cold morning - I know my car is a little temperamental in the cold mornings sometimes.
I was thinking the same thing, has probably always done it, but since I've got the JB+, I've been paying very close attention to everything.
I could just be psyching myself out haha.
All is certainly good with it though!

Good to see the JB products carrying over to this platform. I'm new here and have always used Burger Motorsport products in my past N54 cars. The products speak for themselves and the customer service is second to none.
I'm taking delivery of my GP this week and I'll put my order in for the JB+ CAN tune shortly thereafter. With how far he's come with the N54 platform in such a short amount of time I can only imagine where the N18 platform will be in the near future.

how do u guys think the jb+ would fare on an euro spec CMS ALL4 ?
or to put in other words, are euro/north american MINIs different as far as engine mapping is concerned ?
just worth mentioning that i'm already having some trouble with a Renntech tune that keeps throwing me CELs (already talked about that a bit on another thread)...i spoke with other NAM guys who had the Renntech and as it turned out i was the only sad case with this sort of problems

i realized that sometimes i don't appreciate the fun factor enough. i went from my JB+ mcs, to just an mcs, to a justa-paceman loaner. good lord i cannot wait to get rid of this dog of a ride. i may just leave the loaner at home and drive my other car.
Fun factor, to me, is the most important factor of driving. JB+ made my already fun car a lot more fun. When I look back on modding my 2005 MCS w/ pulley, exhaust, cai, etc., to the tune of about $2600 the outcome was fun, but spending that much money wasn't. Spending only $300 for the JB+ performance is the most fun for the money I have had to this point. Now I need a little patience and wait for BMS stage I....lol.
Coop-a-Loop, you said it best, the fun factor is taken to the next level on a car that is already a 10. Just a little update, I was one of the first to have the JB and initially ran into a problem with to codes tripping my cel light. One code was the tuner code Terry has resolved and updating and another was a weird thermostat code. It turned out that when I installed the JB I did not have my doors looked prior to letting the sit for the 10 min before. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the car asleep this time and the problem with the thermostat code popping up every few days is goin. Wanted to share if anyone else runs into this.
