Drivetrain Megan cat-back.
Megan cat-back.
Hey guys my brother is thinking about getting the Megan cat-back exhaust for his 2006 Mini Cooper S. I know when I ordered my Invidia I had to specify what year mine was due to the hanger location. Anyone install the Megan on a 05-06 MCS without running into hanger issues, as it seems that the design is the same for all years when it comes to the Megan. Would prefer to be able to put it on in my garage.
I have a megan for my 03 (with a 9/02 build date). It seemed to me that it had the hangars for both versions built into it.
My car requires the middle two hangars to go front to back, but it also had hangars that went side to side.

They point inward towards the battery box. I should have cut them off before I hung the exhaust, but I don't have to tools to do it while it's on there.
I don't have pics of my exhaust or my install, but here is the pic from their website...

This is not how mine looks. In addition to the vertical hangars you see in the middle, there are also horizontal hangars that point inward. I believe those hangars are required for 04-06 cooper Ss. On mine, they are welded on, so in order to get rid of them they would need to be cut off.
Although I bought the exhaust from a dealer on eBay, they drop shipped it direct from the manufacturer.

They just hang, brother.
For some reason, no bolt was included to tie the two tips together. Although it worked fine without anything, I decided to pick up a bolt and nut from lowes to make sure they were tight and didn't rattle.
If you line them up and then tighten the exhaust clamps they stay perfectly fine. A word of advise - don't be afraid to bend the pipes by tightening the clamps. I don't think I tightened them enough when I installed it and I had a bit of an exhaust leak. The manufacturer does not give instructions on torque specs so I emailed them and they said to torque the clamps to 25-33 ft-lbs.
