?? The wording on the intercooler description about the HP is... confusing.

The intake manifold looks interesting, and the price isn't horrible. ...But how much do they claim (flow and or HP) one can gain by using a higher-flow I/M?

This brings up one basic question - how much air is this engine capable of pumping –mathematically / theoretically? …Remove the obvious pre & post head restrictions & what is the max through the stock head & cylinders?

CAI, larger TB & hose, larger intake manifold - larger valves, ports & exhaust manifold / cat and cat-back exhaust systems. ...All of these items help to improve flow, but where are the limits?

Unproven and unproven. If I sold a manifold and/or a water/air intercooler, I'd provide some data showing the effectiveness of each.

Intercoolers don't make h.p. but they do help you optimize what you have, especially in hotter ambient temps

Right, that's why I said:

That is the worst Photoshop job on the intercooler I have ever seen. I hope they took more care with the construction of the intercooler.

Also, you would think for $1,300 + a core charge that they would give you the temp gauge and the right sized radiator?

I like-um. a lot. As I have the MC, the intercooler is not applicable. But I like MINI Madness stuff. Their intake manifold, head with larger valves, throttle body, Schrick cam, cold air intake, header and cat back exhaust sound real real good. I've already got their CAI and exhaust. I like the idea also of some other internal work such as modded pistons, rods, and maybe crank. The MCS has forged rods and crank (if I remember), but the MC is cast. Also add an ECU. That with some light weight parts where ever you can manage them, and your MINI can be quite fast. The MINI cost me $29k (with options, tax, and license), and I plan on keeping it til I die, so what's another $10 or $20K? Especially, if down the road I use it as a second car for fun, to keep the miles off it.

Jaz - How'd you get an MC to $29k? That's like $10k over sticker, no?

Hey BlueMCS,

Yes. I paid base sticker for a MC, then got all the mods I wanted. Ordering took 3 months. Got all 3 packages ala cart as I did not want sun roof or run flats. CVT. HK with XM satellite. Lo Jack. MINI Madness CAI and exhaust. Tinted windows. Boot box. Floor mats. Xenon. Chrome bumper thingies. Clear tail and side lights. I can't remember what else I may have got. Dealer installed them all. Everything was ready when I picked up the car except the XM which I got one or two months later (but paid up front for it). Lo Jack was just over $1,000, and they will call me if the car is moved a few inches. I just need to carry my cell phone with me. Tax and license was a little over a $1,100 or so. I'm happy with it all and still paying on it (home equity loan). In two years it will be paid off.

Happy motoring!

Hey MrWhoa -- Sure I wanted an S, but I have bad knees and could not take the shifting anymore. I could shift sometimes, but not regularly. I envy you guys with the stick shifts, as I've had a few cars in the past with shifters and they were a real blast. My wife's nephew and his girl friend have a stick shift MC and let me drive it for awhile and it was a lot of fun.

Hey ABTsportsline -- I don't feel like I overpaid. But remember I bought options ala kart. Anyway I'm satisfied with my purchase and would do it again.

don't want to get into an argument here but.....intercoolers cool the charge of air prior to it entering the combustion chamber. cooler air = denser air = more air to combust in the same amount of space = more torque which then gets calculated into more horsepower........

I agree. The intercooler is no different in final result as the supercharger or a Cold Air Intake. It provides more air to the combustion chamber. Just look at JLM's dynos with the larger intercooler. He got 10hp with the intercooler.

I find this product more interesting:

I would like to have gauges for these three readings and boost. I need to make a custom unit like Andy did below his toggle switches. Except I need three guages.
